Hey, g3 will be mainly code book questions and various technical questions from the CSA workbooks. No one knows exactly what is on the test as its a random pool of 1500 questions and from 1500 questions 160+ questions will then be on your test. study advice, get comfy reading the code book and read the CSA book modules for g3.

Thank you for this information I have experience in HVAC for about 6 years. I don't know how and where to start. Now I have an idea, as mentioned, to apply to TSSA. My question is which source can I study in order to pass the exam to get a G1?

to get the gas tech 1 license you will need to have gotten your g2. After having 4000h as a g2 and 500h as a g1 you can then do your theoretical schooling through a course provider, type gas tech 1 course in google and you will get a list of providers. if you're looking to challenge the g1 you will have to contact TSSA and see what documents they require. These documents you will need to provide will need to state you are proficient with proof of hours.

Best tip would be to get very comfortable flipping through the code book and knowing how to size gas pipe. G3 is straight forward and all answers can be found within the code book.

@@nikobuildsI’m in my classes right now in a trade school my exam is in April and the code book is nice to have but how did u study the code book for the exam of course I’ve highlighted and put sticky notes on the important pages to get to but just want to know what’s the most important stuff to study and how to just find everything fairly fast (also I have my iep so I get an extra hour or so for my exam witch takes a lot of stress off of me since 1.27 for each question is a bit tight of a gap to finish in my mind but what did u do for the actual exam if u got stuck did u just leave it or did u go threw it so all the easy ones then go back to the harder ones to find them out

Is Himark worth the price over Georgian?

Depends on your goal. i've met a lot of guys who have gone the hi mark route and have been able to get into union 787 and spend less time getting the licenses. But, ive met more guys in 787 who had went to college to get their g2's. if youre only staying in residential hvac go hi mark, if going into ICI id say college because employers do look at where you get your training from at 787.

I believe college is great to get you into an apprenticeship for 313A and union 787. As for getting the gas tickets highmark is also a great choice. Focus on getting your g2 then worry about the g1. most dont get the g1 till much later.

More than likely, no. They want someone with more experience because they just want someone with a g2. Because no one wants to supervise a g3 tech.

You can also just challenge the test and pay to have someone from TSSA come to you to do the practical.. not sure if you don’t know this or not.. After passing the written test you have 1 year to complete the practical portion

It is very difficult but not impossible. Contractors want to be able to send someone to site that can take responsibility for their work. A g3 must be accompanied by a g2 and cannot be held liable for any damages.
