I don’t see how this will get you 10k followers in less than a year. I’ve been doing this and more (things you haven’t even mentioned like time to post, tagging, etc) and I’m still only at 1500 in 8 months. Most people advise not to use hashtags with 1 million posts because then your post gets buried within minutes, it’s better to use those with less posts, actually its best to use both and mix it up. And why not take advantage and use all 30 hashtags??

Take the advantage of hashtags but don't neglect the big ones. Yes you'll get burried in a second with things like: #ig #photooftheday and such with massive volume.. but that's where you'll get a little traction with very low volume ones. And stay consistant in your tags so you have visibility on the tags that people can now follow. His tips are very vague and it could be summed up by saying: put time on instagram and follow relevant people and you'll grow.

It's all a popularity contest. There is a big psychological effect which takes place when someone follows you. I have a strict rule that I only follow Club members or people who work with the club (it's a car club). Now, i only follow 3 people, and one of them is not me. I currently have 64 followers which is laughable. When someone follows you, you will feel so happy. As a result, you will want to go and see this person and possibly want to become their friend. As a result, you will look at their page, maybe like a post or even comment, and you might even follow, because that's what a normal person will do. The other person will then unfollow you when you least expect it because they never wanted to be friends with you in the first place. This means they keep you as a follower but they don't follow you. If you have more followers than following, you appear more high status and important. And that's why they unfollow you. These people are not your target audience. They are using you. You want to target people who are genuinely interested in you, which means you should reply to their comments, throw your followers some likes, but if your goal is to be popular and you want to avoid the fake followers, do not encourage their follow backs.

I’ve been trying to establish an Instagram page for my small business (a fashion/accessories/jewelry/skin care boutique- basically it’s a lifestyle brand, I think I’m just going to start saying that 😂) and it’s slow going.... which I of course expected, but I really appreciate these realistic tips. Some things were so “obvious”, yet I hadn’t thought of them at all (like not just following back people who follow me but actually following people who like similar accounts to MINE- genius lol. Such an easy small thing but a good way to get people to see your page!). Really appreciate it and I am so thankful I found your account. Definitely will be watching more of your vids! Does anyone know how to follow other pages in the same niche you are in but quick I am trying to follow 5k pages but it is taking forever

I feel like there was some good advice in here but it is all very generic. There is nothing in this video that will help you get 10,000 followers. Also, in my opinion, it's a terrible idea to use large hashtags because then your post gets buried in seconds and you have no chance to rank in those hashtags. In my opinion its better to use hashtags relevant to your size, start with hashtags with 10k posts and see if you rank, then work your way up. I'm not an expert but from my experience that's what I think.

Great video! As a creator, I have a suggestion, Your subtitles would look better without the blue backgrund in the back, I would suggest make them outlines so they don't chat camouflaged with the white spots in the background.

John - Within Instagram Stories section ...What is the main advantage of doing a live video feed versus a edited video I posted later ? I have found when ever I do I live video the analytic's always show a lower viewer count plus all the other issues in doing a live video steam like draining the phone battery quickly... I don't really it's benefit ? Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Tony, That is a really good question. I think you might get different answers from different people. Here are my thoughts. 1. Live is good if you have something really interesting that is happening right then. It's best to do them at peak times, when an event is occurring that you have promoted. For example, you might let people know you are going live for a few weeks before actually doing it, and letting them know what to expect. 2. Stories do get more distribution, so its a good idea to use them more often for everyday posts. 3. If the content is something that you want to keep around, post it as a video on Instagram and post the full video to KZread. You want to keep any really good content around. I recommend KZread for that.

It's weird though because there are other people saying to use hashtags where you will be able to win top post, and these tend to be the ones with less popularity.
