Little did Randy know that one call before going fishing would be affecting him for the next decade. He took a highway to hell and knocked on death valley's door to please his wife. Randy, you sir deserve a medal.

Hilarious Randy! And a story every married elk hunter can relate to. I took my father in law elk hunting once. He was a short little guy who grew up in Boston. The fact I only took him once let’s you know that there’s a long story similar to yours behind it😂. Your wife is a jewel!

Randy , thank you for giving me a dose of perspective. After buying my Grandparent's house (with all of their belongings they had accumulated since 1941, minus Grandpa's Guns and the Dining room set). I got rid of most of the stuff too good to throw away they had packed in closets, drawers, garage, steel garden shed and woodshed. I was loath to accumulate ANY MORE CLUTTER. It affected me so much, I really undersized the closets and drawer space when we remodelled so there would be no place to accumulate STUFF..... The woman in my life now was given, unasked, by her sister, her late father's podium from his classroom. It sits in my garage taking up space taunting me as I try to have a functional clutter free space for the first time in my adult life. Thanks for showing me "it ain't that bad".

It's been 23 years and I'm still tripping over those damn boxes. It makes life interesting. Love conquers all. And thanks for your stories.

A great story very well told! The wisdom passed on is priceless. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 36 years despite horrible incursions from her family and from my family. Early on we made a pact that we would be united and stand strong together no matter what. And we have lived together following that pact. Our happiness and love for each other is stronger than ever. We do just about anything we want and enjoy each our time together.

Love it Randy! I have a true story if my own for how I get all the hunting time I could ask for. You see, before I got engaged, I set some clear expectations with my future wife around the time I WILL spend hunting, and rules to protect this time. 1) we will not get married in the Fall. 2) we will not birth any kids in the Fall. 3) we will not take any family vacations in the Fall. 4) our kids will not participate in Fall sports or activities. They will go to school, hunt, fish, and camp. 4) from August 15th-November 15th, this time is reserved for me to plan, scout, and hunt. This includes all weekends, and all vacation I have earned that year. 5) The only exception being one week of vacation is reserved for a family vacation. 6) my wife, family, in-laws, kids…. Are welcome and encouraged to join, as long as they are willing to follow camp/hunt rules (including not being a P.I.T.A) As a result, we were married in early August, my son was born in February, and future kids will be born sometime in January-June. So far we are on track! As an insurance policy, I included this agreement in my wedding vows for all to hear and witness. “…. And except for 5 weeks in the Fall…..I’m all yours!” I have a wonderful wife. I truly won the lotto as far as wives are concerned. I work very hard Thanksgiving through early August to make sure she is happy and fulfilled. As they say, “happy wife, happy life”. As my wife says, “happy husband, happy home.”… Take care everyone!

I didn't know what I was signing up for on this particular shop story, but am I ever glad that I took the journey! My accountant mind just can't help but try to assign a dollar amount that a junk box has actually cost Randy since 1995. (Shipping Cost from PA $3000, Moving Crew Cash Reimb. $300, Storage Unit 1 108 Months @ $250, Storage Unit 2 108 Months @ $250, U Haul to Nevada, $3000, U Haul to Nevada Fuel and Food $500, Mother In Law Birthday Grocery Trip $1200, Prorated Box Trailer Back to Randy's $250, & Storage Allocation Fee Bedroom Basement 60 Months & $50; Totaling an estimated $65,250 and if there were 500 Items that would equal that box cost Randy approx. $130.50)

Wow Randy, wow!!! This story is just beyond! I am glad you shared this story! Sick people do what sick people do, and he was not well. Very disrespectful and inconsiderate toward you! And this was just one story. You could probably build a whole youtube channel around telling these stories. But really, that's sad people act like this. I hope it don't hurt your wife for sharing her family's personal status/info/situation. But if your wife is a fair and honest person, she'll understand. Or at least, from what you shared, I would hope she would. I mean you got put through a lot! I mean, this story was freaking hilarious!!! I mean, you know, I don't mean to be disrespectful, an all. And RIP and all that, but even without meeting the man, I would have hated him. -I'm just say'n Your wife must be very special! Thanks again Randy

Haha. The first thing was a fondue set that uses a stereo can to heat it. The square white items are plate packing sleeves. Yes, UNICEF is still around. Haha, the rest is packing "stuff" that was laying around when the movers finished packing up the dining room. I think we all have a few of those boxes stored away, Randy. Classic story, but I always thought your hunting was a result of her fishing and your long hours slaving away as a CPA. All that talk of heat makes me want to go get a dilli-bar at the DQ.

Randy it's dowery I guess it's the price we pay when we get married. I suppose your father-in-law was old school and giving you all the privilege to hunt and fish😂

OK. I'll accept that version of logic. Beats my version.

Love the story, but I have to ask how does the wife feels about you sharing this story with everyone? Her siblings must not be great people either letting him do what he did. Good luck Randy😂

She's read the written version and she laughs out loud every time. At family gatherings, she often has me tell parts of the story and we all have a good laugh about it.

Father in Laws are such a huge pain in the ass but the Mother in Law that is married to that rascal sure does raise a good wife somehow or another.

I didn't find this funny at all. As a matter of fact, I found it to be very sad. Enough said.

In a way your right and I some what agree. But this is the world we live in. That guy really crapped on Randy and I hope his wife see's that. And maybe this should have been keep at the kitchen table, but I'm still laughing.. ... I can just see Randy riding in that old car with the window down in all that heat with 1/2 his hair getting a perm job... or him driving that uhaul through the canyon along the virgin river. It's just hilarious .... I won't look at Randy the same. He took a lot!!
