If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex

Another alternative I could suggest is if you’re working remotely is get good at what you do. Then hire virtual assistants from the Philippines and train them to do what you do. They only cost about $600-$1000/month. Then apply for multiple positions and have your VAs work those positions. That’s how I started out when I needed the funding. Now I have an entire killer performance marketing team that costs me roughly $12k a year each instead of paying an American a $85k salary plus commission each. Each VA generates me about $80k-$100k+ a month, each.

@@allfortv4895 I started off media buying. I learned taking Facebook marketing courses online. Plenty of good sites like Udemy or Coursera, that aren’t expensive, or you can take the Facebook/Meta Blueprint courses for free, but that doesn’t really show real world application, just the basics which is good enough to get in the door. Then I learned Google Ads/KZread for search/display. Google use to offer free courses. I think they charge now but it’s not expensive either, roughly $100 or so. Once you have search and social in your tool belt, you can demand higher salary plus higher commission percentages. That’s how I started.

Alex, I had to watch this 10x to burn this in to my head. This was so valuable and I'm sure this is like the free book funnel strategy formula.
So start the marketing engine and find out how much it costs to acquire a customer then set your price at 2x+ cogs+cac, then repeat as many times as possible.

Hey Chuck, I have watched this video thrice and am letting it sink in using my own Price Points & my client acquisition is done through cold calling (setting appointments), meeting people face-to-face, and adding as much value as possible prior to our meeting through email and anything additional that I can send them at that time. Using Alex's step-by-step process in Acquisition. My mindset is that I can add 10x as the general rule in under a year's time. I believe there would be a break-even plus number that you MUST hit to be profitable in that month so you can have a margin. I'm curious, as I am thinking through this while writing this what that number would be translated over to your business or mine to make it happen. Doing the math is important. Okay, done.

it could be a sales engine too. You could acquire customers through your own sales grit and $0 spent and just time (cold calling, cold emails, messaging, etc), then apply a dollar amount to your time to determine what the CAC would be if you hired a new salesperson that could learn from you, and go from there

Interesting stuff. I'm building a software product, and the great thing about digital products is they cost almost nothing to fulfil. Once my product is marketable and fully-usable, I can put almost 100% of my time and energy into getting customers, then reinvest almost all the money from those customers into getting even more customers and improving the product. That's the theory.
The intro is great. This is how you can be money wise and scale your business in just one month! Amazing 🙌

I read a post the other day that made so much sense. Those who try are 100% ahead of those who do not! Something like this
That 2 X makes alot of sense ... Until now I was working with (Front End sales) FE > CAC+COG but that is mostly to maintain...
I think where most biz owners lose is when they can't GET the $400 from the customer in their first month with only $200 for acquisition and fulfillment. That's a 400% markup on fulfillment (if your ad costs {labor and ads} are the same as fulfillment.) Services - not goods - I believe, have an easier time is getting that markup since there are fewer consumables (other than time).
@vventurez
Жыл бұрын
Once you know your numbers (CAC and fulfillment) that won't be an issue, the problem is rather to know your numbers. The fulfillment variable is easy while CAC usually isn't often known when you start a new venture, you need to have some empirical data first from the resources employed.
@andrewanabi
Жыл бұрын
@@vventurez you make it seem way easier than it is, especially for a physical good like Michael said. When you’re starting a company with a physical good, your competing with all the other companies who have optimized their costs and probably have economies of scale on their side so even if you know your CAC you simply can’t compete with them because they have much better margin than you. This is where your marketing and brand comes into play (which Alex is a genius at). You need to position yourself as a more premium product even if what you’re selling is a commodity, which is very hard to do but not impossible. In todays world, this comes down to being able to create better media essentially and tell better stories which is why Alex has doubled down so heavily on content. Good luck!
@vventurez

@@andrewanabi Obviously you will have done your due diligence and it resulted in a business case, before your decision to enter a specific market, in order to determine your chances to succeed. Remember, the question here was how to customer-finance your growth, not how to compete in the market. And yes, customer-financed growth works as he explains, if it applies to your specific case is a different question. In case you are operating with low margins, you need to be able to create a high-enough perceived value of what you are selling at the price point you determine it to be sold in the first place, before you promote it with better media or stories.

This is exactly what I've got in mind to do, and thank you for explaining this Alex! However I'm nervous to ask customers for orders (cash upfront) as I still have to produce the physical goods and then deliver, which will take longer than the usual turnaround time of production, at least to get started. So its how I pitch this to potential customers (stockists) I think that will determine whether I can get the ball rolling. I would love to run this by you personally if you can have the time to tall with me? Thanks Alex.

Hi Alex I am manager for some online fitness coaches and we discussed an interesting topic. Their clients LTV is approx 1200$. Clients pay 250$/month and stay for about 4,5 months. We want to give more value and add extra mindset courses, e-books etc, but we are not sure weather clients should unlock this mindset course etc at month 6 (1,5 more months than average to unclock) or looking for 25 new clients every second month (scarcity) and charge 2500$ upfront for a 4 month period including these extra added values. It needs to be said their revenue is 100K$/month in total

Starting out, you don’t actually know the cost of customer acquisition until you’ve spent the money. And starting out, how you acquire a customer (talking to your network) may be different than how you plan to acquire customers in future (ads).
