OOH! Almost forgot to mention, since the chests are shopkeepers inventory, taking items from them will take from what the merchant has for sale. The chest is refilled every time the shopkeeper restocks.

Uhhh you moron, Modding doesn't mean cheating, You can get mods that just change the look of the environment and mods that enhance the texture quality on different things in the game. They don't make the game any easier they just make it better. You can get some mods that do make the game easier some of them in a reasonable lore friendly way and some that would be considered cheating but you don't have to use those if you don't want to. Modifying your game doesn't always mean cheating to make it easier but abusing a glitch in the game for an advantage is always cheating.

4 years late, so this is more for anybody who bought the game recently (SE or VR or even Classic. It does work 100% on classic and SE, not sure about VR though) First thing's first, it is not an invisible chest. It's the Khajiit Caravan's chest. All merchants have their own chest hidden underground or in walls or other ways. It contains everything they sell, and their gold. Meaning you can take everything, keep what you want, and sell it back for speech, or just take everything and sell it to another merchant for profit, or even just keep it. Next thing, you can get the merchant's inventory to reload by going up to them, pulling a weapon out, quick saving, hitting them once, and then loading the save. Their inventory will be restocked. You can use this to make tons of money and level speech like no tomorrow.

Hey, for the Whiterun-Blacksmith chest, I found an even faster way to in in the outer-court in Jorrvaskr. you go to the practice dummies, and go in-between the farthest to the right and the one next to it, take a wooden plate and you'll run right through and just make your way to the chest like normal. saves you a lot of time running around the city.

The level of excitement in your voice was insane

In Whiterun, after talking to the skyforge Blacksmith, if you turn to the left and drop to where the practice dummies are, grab a bowl from a nearby table and walk into the wall just left of the burning torch, you can glitch yourself through the wall right at the area you need to be. Saves on running around the wall.

For the one on Solitude. Go to Solitude and exit the main gate . Continue through the next wall and the open door and look left where the slight rise in ground is. On the ground between first trees left and right on the little rise in ground on the left and just above a distinctive dark grey twig or peice of wood if you are veiwing it as horizontal is the hidden chest you will have to crouch to find.

For Whiterun Chest just go behind the building the smith is with and push through the wall in between the first and second training dummy. I find using a bowl is easier than a plate. If u use a bowl slanting it makes it easier sometimes.

I realize this is a rather old video relative to right now, but I'm playing on the 360 with all three DLC installed, and at least the first chest is still accessible. About to try the rest, and just wanted to say how fucking awesome this is! Great video. I hope you're still around to see this, but if not, at least I can hope it helps anyone wondering if it still works.

Hmm I cannot speak to whether it works on PS3 as I was doing it on the 360. It's very possible that it's been patched out in the PS3 version. Most of the tricks where you access a chest through existing scenery should still work. Alternatively, you can always try clearing the system cache to erase patches, and give it a shot on an earlier game version.

when it comes to the whiterun skyforge chest u don't have to jump on the barrel and over the wall u can use a wooden plate on the front gate rite off the center of it. I couldn't do the barrel jumping crap so I tried a plate on the gate and it worked so thought I would share that.

Nice, it let me get all the chests. I just clicked it a couple of times, and got it.

well... that will teach me for having my volume up to 100% AND wear headphones at the same time...

Underneath every shop is a chest ghat contains all the items for sale, the one in dawnstar is closer to the surface, allowing you to access it. Its for the kajit caravan.

FOR the blacksmith one in whiterun you can go to the side of skyforge and then put a platter against the wall and sprint into it

Also there is one in solitude, if you go in the blue Palace and pick up a platter and go down the left hallway and down the stairs, you can put the platter on the wall to the left of the stairs you just came down, then quickly face a little right and click fast and open the chest

The 1 in whiterun is also possible if you go on Jorvvesker (Companions) and use whirlwind sprint BUT YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 2 UNLOCKED!

An even faster way to restock chests is if you manage to encounter the travelling merchant or other shopkeepers, you can save your game and then kill them, after which you then reload that save to find a new inventory for you to loot.

For the whiterun one you can just kettle glitch through the wall of the jorrvasker that points towards the stairs to the skyforge

The way to do the wall trick in white run is to take a wooden plate and put it against the wall of the companion place (the one in between the skyforge and building) and whirlwind sprint through it. Then walk over to the chest and rob him blind and sell it back to him , repeat until he is out of doe steal it one last time and sell it to the chic at the smaller forge near the gate(war madens). P.S. if she runs out of money she has a big brother inside the shop.

I thought I only knew about the whiterun barrel jumping glitch thing to get out of whiterun :P

Just went to do the Windhelm chest, had the SAME waiting image and SAME waiting message. Spoooookyyy~ X3

Also, there are 5 chests in Windhelm. The Altmer Merchant has one stacked on the other, one is stealing, one isn't. Also, there is a chest at the other end near an exit to the docks. There are some barrels there, and sometimes the orphan stands there handing out flowers. The Chest is full, so chances are your follower won't carry all of it.

I have only been able to do the barrel clip once, after probably 40 minutes of trying in my life, but you just do the "platter" wall clip by jorrvask on the flat brick wall and it takes like 3 tries tops

also that kahjit caravan chest. theres one in markarth behind the stone wall right next to them on the ground. right by the wood pile to cut wood. just look down and go across the wall ON THE FLOOR and u should see open chest

What i do early in the game without the shout is use a charged attack then sheath before it fully swings, pushes me up a bit faster, but i usually put like everything in my home

whiterun chest can be accessed by using wooed plate glitch on wall next to dragonsreach, much easier:)

There is. 3rd way of doing the chest in whiterun, if you go down from the skyforge and go to where there are dummys and the were wolf place, you can walk through a wall there with a plate

you can also do the vendor loop to reset them: Save, kill them, load save. and it will reset them
