How To Get To The Galapagos Islands
After being at the top of our South America bucket list we HAD to get ourselves to the Galapagos Islands. We are staying for the next few days on Isabella Island and thought we would share with you guys how to get there on your own (no tour, no guide). Warning: The Galapagos Islands are rather expensive to get to!!

We are both 110% excited to be here! You know us... we love us some animals...and especially unique ones which we will be showing you in tomorrows vlog! In case you missed yesterday's video where we got up and close with some Amazonian ones, check it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6iakq6ynJvJY8Y.html

"We love us some animals" but you apparently didn't love your teachers well enough to master the basics of English grammar. It will be you and your type who ruin those islands. And the natives need the money too much to say: "NO." The wild tortoises have been dwindling and dwindling, I expect they're almost gone by now. But that's OK since you "love you some animals." I'd be curious how much time you spent....hiking in the mountains of Scotland and exploring the native fauna and flora there before you decided that the scope of your interest in zoology had to expand to the Galapagos.
I am 47. You both give me hope for the future generation ....Smart, Funny, Humble, Adventurous and....always with a Purpose!

its good that they made it complicated to get there. otherwise people would use it for their beach holidays and ruin the atmosphere. thanks for your video!

Flying The Nest Awhile back I looked up flights from Colorado and the prices to get to islands and everything was so much. I was like yeah, it will be awhile before I can afford to get there. 😂 so for now I can enjoy your Galapagos videos until I can!!
What time of year did you go? My hunch is I should go Dec-Jan when it’s winter for me. Very informative and awesome as always
Love your channel! Even if you didn't volunteer at the end... wher did you find all the information to do it? tryng to volunteer as well
wow, great video you guys! I can't wait to get there! some more practical info would be great. Otherwise amazing stuff, really!
The color of the water is unbelievable, haven't seen this color anywhere

Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed video. Also, subscribed your channel. Galapagos is my travel destination. Last year, I had visited Baltra,Bartolome,Chinese Hat,Española,Isabela,Mosquera and San Cristobal. I visited there with the help of Tip Top Cruises.
Loved this video! Did you use US dollars to pay for all taxis/ ferries? And did you book the in advance? Xx
It seems not very hot there. I expected they had a generally warm climate due to the proximity to the equator.
Are you guys going to catch up with MoreJStu bevause you are going to Colorado?
I live in Isabela is very expensive but it’s very beautiful
AWESOME!
My dream place ☹️❤️
It's actually more expensive for foreigners than nationals to go to the galapagos.
Nice to travel every place but how much cost your travel
Hello !!!!!!😀👍🏿 I love Galapagos! We once saw some turtles there!!!awesome!!! Thanks!
I made a lifelong dream come true visiting in 2016. You are correct about the expense, I went through about £1500 in 2 weeks but it was worth it. One thing I would advise people to do is go scuba diving, especially if you have never done it before.

Registration online for tourist is impossible! How did you register? How much did you paid to get to island? $800us? Thanks.
I went to Floreana in The Galapagos 4 months ago! There were only 70 people living there! So cool seeing the airport, ferry and port again! Defo try and go snorkelling or diving if you can. Also, where I was there were flamingoes and penguins so look for them! Can wait to see what else you do :D

Have you ever been to Seychelles? Amazing nature and there's plenty of those tortoises there! You can even feed them, scratch their neck etc. on some places like the Curieuse Island, where there's sort of a sanctuary made for them. And man - they're huge! :)

We spent our honeymoon there this June, definitely worth visiting! Maybe little different than the Maldives as the main islands are bigger with lot of hills and tropical forest everywhere (as far as I can tell, haven't been to Maldives yet, hopefully we're going in April next year :)
cool place to visit👍

Hey, I am researching and learning it is expensive hearing that $200 park fee. What else is expensive about it?
@msbrownbeast
3 жыл бұрын
It's expensive to get there (flight, entry fees etc), but once you get there, you can get by on a slim budget. Accommodations (basic and not fancy) can be found for cheap, and restaurant food is surprisingly reasonable. If you plan out your own itinerary you can save a lot of money. Where it gets expensive are for those who fly there and then join the cruise groups and stay on the cruise boats. Spending time on land is much more affordable and you will get a better experience of the place. Spend time to do some research and it will pay off when you get there. Also if you plan to do some tours, you can also save money by NOT pre-booking on-line (and pre-pay) any tour (e.g. from Santa Cruz to Isabella). At Puerto Ayora, (the biggest town, located on Santa Cruz Island), there are tour companies where prices are negotiable (and always cheaper than online prepaid).

Galapagos is expensive! I'm from Ecuador and I've never gone there but I would love 🙌
@msbrownbeast
3 жыл бұрын
@@belfordvalverde9421 Well, to get to Gapapagos even from Ecuador it requires a flight from either Quito of Guayaquil and that flight is only handled by 2 airlines with cost about $400 USD, plus the entry fees $20 and $100. But once those fees are out of the way and you have arrived there, the rest of the trip is not any more expensive than staying as a tourist in e.g. Quito. As I mentioned, the hotels (not fancy ones) are very reasonably priced, and eating out is cheap. I had a great lunch in Puerto Ayora with seafood soup and lunch main course (1/2 spiny lobster with salad and rice) all for $5.00 USD. And if you stay away from those $$$ cruise packages, the trip would be definitely affordable. The key to keeping the budget under control is to plan out your own itinerary. Stay away from the cruises packages - they are designed to rip off the foreign tourists.Even the Ecuadorian government don't like these cruise companies, because the money doesn't filter down into supporting the local economy.
@msbrownbeast

@@iiAngelic The fee is $20 when you depart at the airport (either Quito or Guayaquil) and then $100 upon entry at Galapagos
Molto bello Galápagos!
Ah, reminds me of my trip there in the mid-1990s. Back in the day when you needed rolls of 35 mm film. :D
Maybe you could help answer this question. I'd certainly appreciate it if you could try. How do I make sure I will be able to enter the Galapagos without exceeding the tourist limitations? I keep reading that there are limits to the number of tourists in the Galapagos, but I see no place to find out whether I am going to exceed that limit. For example, how do I know that, once I get off the plane at Baltra or San Cristobal, I will not be told that I have to turn around because I am exceeding the number of tourists? I am traveling on my own, no guide.
Very nice I will go there
You will have an iguana-a-day calendar by the end of your trip to go with your seal-a-day calendar
oMG. WOOOOW. huhuhuhuh.. so amazing..
I LOVE ECUADOR
Great viewing !!!
Amazing
For turist from another country might get expensive but for people from Ecuador its a lot cheaper .Still great video a unique place you visited
holy CRAP I thought everything was going smoothly until I saw the $200 park fee!!!
Why didn't you just fly to Isabella? That was a long journey from quito
Idk if it was yours but I found a snickers on the wall of tears when I was there last week😂😂
I wonder if they will go to Victoria in their road trip adventure - we've got some good seals
And the tortoise is saying “ whoa people!!”.
Very Nice, I was surprised at how much it cost. A question, do they regulate the number of tourists or do you feel it is just a tourist trap so to speak.Looking forward to more from there.
@flyingthenest
6 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know if they regulate the tourists! TBH i'm not sure if this was busy or quiet season but there were not a lot of tourists there! Plus a lot of people go on cruises around the island so we might've missed them!

This made me so sad only because every bit they did was what I did when I went and I miss it sm
watching a 3 hour special on nat geo wild brought me here ... i didnt know there was vehicles there AND people living there ... where does the electricity come from ???
Which island was the tortoise?
Cuesta mucho
I love it Galapagos. From India
OMG 😱 sooo expensive! And those food portions are little! I would need two of those!
Can you give an approximate breakdown of your 1,200 USD of expenses to get from Ecuador to the Galapagos? The numbers I'm seeing don't add up to that.
Yo viendo como ellos visitan las islas galápagos Quedándome en quito Espera saben español '_'
Didn’t you start this trip with two small and two large backpacks? I feel like I am only seeing one big backpack now. Am I crazy?
How if you run out cash or local currency in the middle of the trip?
