Same shit. I damn near 1 shotted the blood brother, while trying to recruit, sure enough my badass turned on me. I wasnt higher level, nothing. 2 dead orcs on my hands hours wasted.

Arrow proof is a must have or else people can just bring ur overlord up to where the archers are and then it's a 1v1 and a easy fight

That's exactly what I did with one during the story. Plus the vault freezing, do the wraith 5 or 6 hit combo attack, then the ground execution for damage. Add the elven flash, when your hit streak is high enough, and the overlords don't last very long. And brand the archers up there instead of killing them otherwise they will respawn.

yeah, i try to keep at least one of every level of wealth gem available to switch in so i can maximise the recruitment level of any good captains i happen to find (without overshooting and making them unrecruitable at my level… a _perfect_ wealth gem isn't going to help if talion is level 30 and the target is level 26, for example)

Do you need a carved one or a normal one?

Arrow proof, immunity to execution and frost are the *must* haves. Fire proof is nice, too, as the fire panic animation gives a lot of time to attack an Uruk. Soft-headed and fear of pinning instantly make an orc useless - most fears, really. By the way, farming silver chests is MUCH faster than cycling through pit fight orcs, especially when you're at level 60. Save enough mirian for about 50 silver chests (not hard if you play online conquests), then open them all, recycling the orcs that aren't near perfect. You'll end up keeping maybe 10% of the orcs. Break down all the gear that you get from destroying those orcs and you'll have enough money for another good set of chests. Keep cycling through until you have a good set of orcs. MUCH faster than pit fight orcs.

For an overlord you also want to have Arrow Proof or an olog so the attacker can't use Shadow Strike pull to get them up on the wall and not have to deal with all the other enemies. Destroyers, Commanders, and Berzerkers with triple strike, and immune to or enraged by executions is good.

Interestingly enough Stealth can be used against Terrified Overlords because the Undead Talion Super doesn't just summon a bunch of undead Gondorian soldiers but also makes Talion invisible to the enemy during it, meaning he can Stealth attack any enemy, including the Overlord. I only figured that out yesterday though so it may not be common knowledge. Great video though, I definately learnt a lot from it.

You don't even need to attack the overlord directly. You can scare or curse normal orcs in the vicinity and then chain stealth attack the overlord through them.

Yooo, I just got a Poison-Proof, Immune to Curse, Frost-Proof and Beast-Proof and Enraged by everything, he has no weaknesses, except for the three hints, but he is a Fiery Feral Beastmaster, which is kind of disappointing. Edit: Nvm, my Orc that was like 10 levels below apparently had a flame weapon, didn't use to, but he ended up winning. Fuck.

I like the nemesis system, and how the Devs throw you off to what you want to do. One person (the player) can't do everything at the same time, and War is systematic and spontaneous. This game doesn't let you do things your way hahaha (I play brutal) and I love it.

Also a tip. Make sure that when you are not wanting the orc put on red gems to up the damage of your uruk to clear faster. If you want the uruk then take off the gems. The gems apply in fight pits (or so far that I have seen)

If he is mortally vulnerable or terrified of Morgai Flies you need arrow proof, there are gear pieces that give your quick throw “curse” and surrounds the Uruk who got hit by the dagger with Morgai flies, so throwing a dagger at the overlord with one of those two weaknesses without arrow proof makes them very easy to exploit. This may be a feature that was added to the game after this video, I am not sure, I only started play about 3 days ago. But at higher levels it seems a lot of people will have gear in sets so it would only be a problem agains good tacticians. For The Bright Lord!

14:02 in a case like that when the weaker one wins they gain some levels so it might be a good way to improve their weakness, while sending them against more meh orcs may also be their chance to earn it proving their underdog victory feat isn't just dumb luck.

I have a legendary olog with arrow beast fire and execution immune fireweapons (plus mines bombs) then the traits that boost fire damage and great strength. Gang of ologs only dazed by flies. He instantly became overlord lol

Umbradens Wolfking does he have determination? If not I’d give him a training order quick if you have one. Also with ologs- arrow proof not that helpful because you can’t shadow pull them and you can only freeze pin them for real effectiveness.

cool i have a berserker Hunter with 5 immunities, fire, poison, Arrows, Frost, and Executions Enraged by injury, caragors, executions, Cowards, Mortal Wounds, Weakness, Betrayal, and acrobatics he has no chance in his class traits aswell he's an epic rage great strength he has 2 hints, and no weaknesses i could make him my new overlord but i'd much rather have all of this on a defender not a hunter, because hunters dont have much health

Actually, you can use "stealth" it takes a while, but it's like the Overlord will "forget" you're there. Kind of a funny way to explain it, but it is possible. Also there are very few spots where you're not in his line of sight or anyone else for that matter. It's a tricky thing to pull off, but it's possible. It mostly depends on the environment of the throne room.

You can obtain unbreakable captains by branding them while they are receiving an animated attack from an ally orc. The point made in this video is mainly valid for the early game, right now the best way (although not consistent) to obtain good orcs is to brand them during online sieges. It's even possible to get unique orcs again as well as DLC ones without the DLC. This way is more realistic to obtain legends such as no second chance with health regeneration

If you run a terror build, chain-stealth kills from a terrified grint to overlord are about the fasters way of killing an overlord, so stealth immunity is very important

I don't need this video at all but it fills my heart seeing a sow tutorial for some reason

Grom the driver is actually good. Arrow proof can take out 4 ways to kill him, especially shadow pull against an overlord

Damn people really don't know the fact you can spam stealth pounces in the overlord fight.... mount a graug and you can literally spam stealth

i found that there is another component to how good they are: hatreds...lets say a guy doesnt have many immunities but has a lot of hatreds he can be very useful due to the way that enraged uruks always seem to almost teleport to the opponent. i have an overlord who is beast fodder but is enraged by poison, fire, being wounded and has a hatred of everything and he is an absolute monster

Imagine my surprise watching UEG for all this time and finally finishing Shadow of Mordor so could check out Shadow of War and you have a guide from years ago. They’ve removed all micro transactions it seems. I’m curious to see if this method still works. I just love the Orc variety. I haven’t seen any of these guys. It’s crazy

Every1 have diffrent thought on the orc stats but 1 category i think is worse then the vulnerable catagory is the "Dazed by" category. Yes u can deal more dmg to orc´s with vulnerable traits but if u daze an orc u temporarily disable all of there immunites making that near perfect 4-5 immunites orc almost worthless. For that reson i will almost always take an orc with no daze effect over 1 with no vulnerable effects.

This game doesn't seem to have a lot of recent action on KZread. Does anyone know of a page that puts out regular content?

Hey, i have 3 overlord orcs that uses the classic human sword designs (i think) Seregost: Lorm Black-blade Cirith Ungol: Golm of Lithlad Golgoroth (i think i butchered it): Flak Storm-Bringer (Mission Failed) How i got storm-bringer is from a certain SoW channel (do your homework)

Hey all still enjoying this awesome game! Keep certain characters with odd names. Like gold fang. Or ice mountain. That's a part of getting orcs with the different colors. Gold fang if given a gang will take on th color gold. Frog blood is green. Red black and white orcs appear pretty often. Ice mountain is blue and rare. Look up orc colours and training.

If you have an orc you don’t want to lose and he’s going to die in a pit fight, you can press start and quit, if you do it to late and the other orc starts his finishing blow, than you have to press your consoles menu button and close the game. Either way your captain will still be alive, I recommend the latter cause it’s quicker.

since you mentioned other player a lot i assume this is for the online fortress mode? am currently now just trying to find orcs that will withstand the AI fortress attacks near the endgame (havent completed the storylines yet) but this video was usefull for when i get to that point :)

you can stealth kill an overlord there is a hidden spot over the entrance in the room to use it be weary of stealth

Instructions unclear I made him to powerful and he came through the screen

The elements are useful in this order: fire is best because it always makes them run around, poison is next cause sometimes they stop and puke, and curse last because they dont have an animation to fuck them over more. They all do the same damage

I just farm the online vendetta. Can get between 3-6 orcs per. I've got a bunch of epic/legendary from it also. The pit thing is a good idea tho. Give you the opportunity to evaluate and decide.

Sid you guys also know if an orc places a trap and you shoot it they get stuck in it along as they are within about 4 feet of it.

My perfect orc was a cursed destroyer w/epic bombs and as a legendary perc had a gang that took some of his traits, he was also a hunter with no weaknesses whatsoever

That doesn't sound too good. His abilities are pretty bad, unless he does decent dmg then that's a different story, but from what I'm getting at I could send one of my rookie berserkers in my nurnen army to take that out

I know most people probably don't even need the info but I've had the game in my library for about 3 or 4 years just never played it until now, just to make your farming even quicker if you go look at the champion and your not happy with them just go to the warrior or maggot ones and then after selecting one come out and go click back on the champion one and it will have reset the orc that is there. Makes farming a lot quicker.

I farm orcs in vendettas I usually find orcs with 2+ epic traits and for online conquests I find orcs with 3+ and with very good regular traits

The only challenge is having enough fodder to put in the pits. I've had many I've wanted to recruit, then my "sacrifice" orc ending up beating them until their face resembled hamburger pulled out of sewage.

Paul Jakubowski once I found a necromancer - he wasn’t too good but it was a fucking necromancer so I put in one of my sacrifice orcs and he ended up killing him somehow.

Sacrificing a lot of weaker orcs in fight pits will trigger a rebellion the next time you walk in your garrison. Orcs do care about each other after all and they don't like a greedy dictator to rule them. I bought shadow of war because I loved the first game Shadow of Mordor. I believe many reviewers just went angry at micro bla bla, but I hope they were able to experience this game from different points. Only 40$ for the game on ps4. I have over 3000 gold, 90,000 Merion, spent few buying ExP boost and upgrades, I am still at level 47 not even finished with the storyline and already winning online conquests against players with higher ranks not impossible to beat as long as you don't care scoring the gold prize. It could be very challenging yet FUN.. I just love this game..

I think for PvP purposes it really is important to have orcs with no fears or "dazed by" traits, since it's too easy for players to cheese those and keep your captains dazed. The only acceptable one really is dazed by morgai flies.

a hunter assassin with no chance and the right strengths and weaknesses can be a beast overlord, captain whatever so hunters are not useless or terrible in the pits

Strangely the game conviniently forgets to mention that Arrow-proof doesn't work in the fight pits. (I can see the logic in it, because it'd be too OP. Imagine, if an orc would be completely immune to basic melee attacks). Still it isn't mentioned so I'm just posting it here as an info for others to avoid nasty surprises. (Like losing one of your best soldiers in the fight pits, because the game doesn't tell you vital information.)

This game is great I just started playing it.

I find letting the orcs/ologs (I prefer ologs) kill me as an easy way to farm captains with good traits but I don't see anyone mentioning this

It is good but there's a chance for your Captains to betray you for being weak

I use stealth kills on overlords all the time. You just run to the wall in the chamber and make sure the over lord followed close enough and stay crouched up there and you can stealth dive his ass lol

I am replaying this and exploring the system more thoroughly. In my opinion if a warchief or overlord has ANYTHING that makes them dazed it is an useless orc. "Dazed by" is the first category you should look, and it has to be empty. Otherwise keep searching.

I usually build my armies based off orcs ive had experience with or have a lot of character. It really makes the game more fun and engaging when you have a reason to care about the orcs.

Heres a tip for anyone who wants a good overlord. Make sure hes arrow proof or an Olog. Most people graug cheese against beast fodder overlords but for ones who arent and arent arrow proof, i climb up and shadow pull him up so its just 1v1 and kill him pretty quick in about a minute or two. Something to think about.

I don't think you mentioned the fact you can set up a situation where yiur guy is particularly strong over another enemy via skills. You can make sure a fight will go your way if say you had a keeper with fire damage and fodder with a fire vulnerability

I don't have a perfect ork, but I do have a brain dead arsonist with increased fire damage, fire bombs and weapons as well as imunity to fire, and best of all some random ork, the first one I ever found that has a rat on a stick ands never betrayed me. Yet.

He gets enraged by weakness so it cancel out fear of execution!! OP overlord

You can still stealth attack overlords by causing fear to his minions then using chain stealth attack skill

Archer's are best against big guys who's name I can't remember because they can avoid there attacks a lot more effectively

I know this is late but you can stealth kill an overlord off a graug if you summon it it r2 and circle on ps4

Did you get all your Uruks through the champion fight pits ?

5:43 bruh orcs can’t stealth attack the only reason that makes him weaker is if your attacking hin

Here’s a fact I think is true... if the captain kills enough beasts or caragors graugs or drakes they become enraged by them I’m not sure about beast slayer though

Beast Fodder is fine as long as the have Beast Slayer. Beast Slayer pretty much cancels out beast fodder.

Liked the video and learned a lot thanks! Is this the best way to farm though? You're going through over and over finding orcs and either killing them or losing one of yours. Don't get me wrong I'm definitely going to try it out when I can, but why not just go siege a fortress and brand every captain/warchief/overlord? That way you know you'll at least get 4ish+ and they will be in your garrison so you can put them in any of the regions. Thoughts?

Online vendettas give some of my best orcs. 80% of the time they are epic or legendary too

Vendettas? You mean recruitment drives and donations? Because I always recruite from online vendettas. If all orc chiefs are bad,I just destroy a wyvern kill and burn everyting.

Just for fun here is a moment where I take the phrase Farming Orcs literal. Orc Farmers: Because only Orcs know how to grow the herbs that brew the best grog.

that uruk that has 5 immunities in 23:52 is bad, because player will just cheat and use caragor to attack him and all those immunities become useless imho

I know this video is old,but I was wondering if you could do a update to this game for new players that can't take advantage of older tips

if they aren’t frost proof or vigilant against stealth they’re bad. frost is easily spammed and after the frost combo is over enemies get knocked down which allows a stealth attack

Yeah for overlord 100% arrow proof or olog.. I beat quite a lot fortresses where was overlord and many bodyguards just because i "steal" him with shadow pull to archers spot and killed him easily 1 to 1

Can orcs that are placed as warchiefs or overlords betray you?

Wanted to recruit a maniac and several legendaries on different regions but my bodyguard(s) killed them T.T I was torn between happiness and sadness

The pits are a good route while still leveling but once someone is good enough or far enough in level it is better to raid others’ bases alone solely with the intent of farming their orcs. Let someone else do the work of searching for those god role stats. You just have to successfully tame them.

update on captain he became Stormbringer and the necromancer has 6 enrages 5 immunities can 1 shot me im level 80 btw his level 80 thx god I used almost all my orcs to dominate him now I learned how to use cheat engine and gave him witch King melee mace and some orcs some Nazgul weapons
