Back when i first started work in a small engineering firm back in the 80's they used to have some cnc equipment and i always remember the manual programming of the machine and then the rapid hitting of the emergency stop when you noticed that you had put z-50 rather than z50 or similar. This stuff you've just demonstrated is truly amazing and must reduce boring bars into the chuck incidents massively.

Lars Christensen I have been tinkering with 360 for about 2 years now making things on my 3D printer. This year I took a programming job at my work and I’m now programming CMM machines using PC DMIS. I’m not for sure if your familiar with them. It’s just Metrology stuff and I have had to learn a tremendous amount of stuff about GD&T. I have tried and tried to learn about the cam side of autodesk and have finally started learning thanks to you! I really appreciate your videos and hope to one day be as proficient as you lol. I’d love to take a job within engineering and you have really set me on that path. Thank you very much sir.

I'm making good progress learning CAM in F360 thank in large part to your videos. I WISH I had seen this particular video sooner! One thing you glossed over was the depth of cut your facing path takes -and how you could ensure an accurate depth on the model's features after moving the facing path later in the process. Where would you have set Z=0 before beginning?

Excellent video. FYI, different CAD programs don't typically agree what axis is the Z axis when exporting. Engineers/designers don't typically model in dumb orientations; when importing, Fusion just guesses which axes are the XYZ axes and sometimes guesses wrong based on what program exported the file.

Hi Lars, I have a question about assemblies and Fusion 360 CAM. It appears that while working within the assembly, creating CAM for each individual component is not possible. Instead each component should be saved individually and then downloaded into Fusion to apply CAM. It looks like its possible to create a new assembly from the individual parts so they're linked together. That way any changes to one part may link to the other. As you can tell I'm a little confused. Could you comment and possibly direct me to other tutorials that may be helpful? Thanks. Skip Wood
