    I would like to see a video about the Power Boxes, or power management systems that are used in most giant scale planes and jets. What they do, why people use them, what it does for the servos and how the receivers are used at the same time. Just a video for dummies like myself, and how all this new tech is used. I see the JR units in your jets, and would love to know about how it all works together, and how the wiring works. Thanks so much. Really appreciate all your videos!

    That series of welcome to GT planes is perfect timing for me. I just got a nice Turbinator plane that is not quite finished. Major build is done, retracts installed and it is on my honey do list to finish after the Avrow Arrow (EDF) is all done. Yep, correct, i'll get the GT from you.😉 So, keep up the good work and show me the money....oop show me what to do. 😊

    I just came across this channel while I’m getting into rc turbine jet! I must disagree 100% with hearing protection being an A&P mechanic my whole life in ear protection is not enough! I realize there is a difference between rc jet turbine and what I work on but what I have learn a lot more sounds than you think come from back of ears and just in ear protection is not enough! Just my thoughts you definitely know more than I do in rc aircraft!

    Thanks Jason. There is many other safety factors when it comes to running RC Turbines. One is staying away from the 180 degrees around the rear part of the turbine for 30 ft. Thrown blades, excessive noise etc. When your in front of the turbine it eliminates much of the noise.

    Hi Jonthan, Turbines do require more equipment that glow, gas, or electric. I want to stay with electric for the two jet models I will eventually build. They are not as massive as the ones you build. :-) I have that Model Merchant 1:10 F-15 from the late 90's and a long kit of the Mark Frankel A3J Vigilante from Dec. RCM magazine I want to build. The fiberglass parts are still available as well as a set of foam wing cores. Thanks for these mini series and you and Katie stay safe.

    I’m really enjoying your video’s but I’m lacking in the mechanics of the whole turbine thing. ((Detailed))How they work, What each part does, What your doing while it’s running and what your fine tuning, I’d like to see a video of a very descriptive running turbine from startup to shutdown. Describing all components and what exactly they do and what to watch out for. I’ve watched quite a few of your videos on testing turbines but they were extremely edited and I don’t recall seeing anything that’s just on a test cycle from start to finish. Thanks for making this segment And keep them coming 👍👍👍

    Will it ever be feasible (or economic) to produce turbofan engines for RC? Is there any advantage or just a whole load of disadvantage to turbofans at small scale?

  • @thelightersideofrc

    @thelightersideofrc

    4 ай бұрын

    I have seen a few examples and it's a great option. you can take a tiny 45N turbine and hook it up to a turbo fan and get many times multiplied force. Big disadvantage is Size/Weight.

    What a great video! I have been looking to venture into turbines. I already have my rating but I have unanswered questions, or maybe I should say, I have never gotten an answer I was comfortable with. It would be great if you could discuss some of the following. What are the major turbine brands? Who do you think has the market cornered? WHERE ARE THE SERVICE CENTERS? I'm not really down with shipping to Spain or England to have my engine serviced, seems risky to me. Maybe not? Used turbine purchases are OK or maybe risky? What to expect when sending in for the service intervals? Is it ever more than the "service fee" (parts?)? What is the life span of a turbine assuming it has been cared for properly? Do they need broken in like a gasser? What about fittings? There are so many sizes and types! Will I notice a difference in power between a 45 and a 60 or a 60 and a 70? Why not a bigger turbine and then limit the max RPM for the airframe? AHHH so many questions! I could go on and on but I think Ive said enough. Maybe these will give you some talking points in your series. Hope to grow my channel similar to yours, although, I am not sure I'd like to be as large! Thanks for the read!

    Hi, I would like to see if you can make a video on set electronics such as fly controllers, gyros using different transmitters such as Spektrum, Futaba and JR. I'm transitioning from EDF Jets to a Turbine jets I would like to get better understanding on how those gadgets works and proper parameters settings. I use a spektrum transmitter 10 channel for now,but I will get a new transmitter with more channels by the time I start getting the electronics for the jet I putting together a good video using different transmitter will help .like all your videos and to care RC Community.

  • @thelightersideofrc

    @thelightersideofrc

    Жыл бұрын

    Purely based on money I suppose it depends on what your priorities are? This may be a longer reply than you were looking for but I see many guys that say " I really want to get into turbines someday but it's so expensive and I cant afford it". Yet they spend $500 on a new foamy, the next week they go buy a used $800 prop plane. the next week they find a good deal on a used engine and spend another $500. so on and so on. They end up with a shop full of projects and stuff. That may be enjoyable to them but they could have taken that money and purchased a great used Turbine aircraft for a decent price.
