Helpful hint on paint brushes or rollers..... just wrap them in a plastic bag and put them in the refrigerator. But with that said, you can not put it in a refrigerator that you keep food in. I bought a $40, smallest I could find, refrigerator. We use rollers over and over and over and over again.... all we do is finish the job, wrap the entire roller in a Walmart bag and put it in the fridge. For the record, the paint can openers are free in the paint section at most Home Depots. Be sure to get the store to shake the paint. Even if you aren't going to use it right away, have them shake it. And the last secret tip.... buy the cheapest roller tray and a roller screen. Get a Walmart bag and put it in the roller tray like a tshirt (with the sleeves in the reservoir section). Now put bag #2 on the roller tray the opposite way so the sleeves are not in the reservoir. Now put the roller screen on the tray as you normally would. When finished, pour unused paint back in can, hold the roller tray over a trashcan and remove Walmart bags. Now, your roller tray is not near as messed up as it would be if you poured the paint straight in to the tray. We use our roller trays for 6-8 months before we need a new one.

Thanks for the great video Lauren. I think the simple tips for getting started and concise delivery are perfect. I love to thrift, or pick-up freebies I find along the road (much to my husband's chagrin), and I don't need any more pieces in our home so this is the perfect way to put those found objects to better use. The process of upcycling, and redoing pieces fits with my eco-friendly philosophy of being thrifty, in many areas of my life, as well as being conscious of our new is better, buy, buy, buy mentality that dominates in American culture today. A huge plus is that this process also fuels my desire for being creative. As much as I love being a nurse, the hours are hard to fit into our family life these days, so for the last 5 years or so I have mostly been a stay-at-home mom. I have left hospital Pediatric Nursing behind, for now, working intermittently in home care or other one-on-one type positions. One of my favorite jobs since leaving the hospital has been supporting a student in the school setting. It is something I really enjoyed but that kind of position it is not something you find every day. So if I am able to also make some extra money to help support our family financially with this hobby that would be amazing. The endless flexibility of this option is a perfect fit for my family and me. If I were able to bring in some extra income it would take some of the pressure off of my husband too. Thank you for inspiring me! P.S. the piece you are sitting by in this video is one of my favorite pieces you have ever done!

It’s important to add that if one would like to get into this business they must consider depending on which state you live in that if this is something that you want to do that doesn’t mean it’s all free money. There is no such thing as free money. Most states require you to report. Where I live I must report even the slightest littlest amount. In the state I used to live in there was a minimum of $4000 a year before it had to be reported. If this is something a person is interested in doing especially long-term it’s very important to stress documenting and keeping track of every cell and how much money was invested before the flip. So that if an audit was to take place you would have record. Cover your butt.

Yes, better quality. You will get more out of what you pay for. I know it seems expensive but in the long run, it's much better to use paint specific for furniture. ie: Chalk Paint, Dixie Belle, The Chippy Barn, etc.

If you are asking about doing this for yourself, I would recommend talking to a tax professional to get their opinion as things like this vary from state to state. Great question!

How do I find the marketplace 😩😩😩I go on face book but can never find it. Is it a separate app that’s connected to Facebook?

I just did a search by typing in my browser..... Facebook marketplace then adding my nearest city. You can narrow down the search area once you find the main page. Hope that works for you.
