What's up, KZread? Now, I know you've got this problem, right? Stray cats showing up in your yard, making noise, making messes... Sound familiar?
First thing's first. You might be thinking, Can't I just shoo them away? Well, yeah, you could, but they'll just come back. It's like putting a band-aid on a leaky pipe - not a permanent solution. We're after the long-term fix here.
Remember that cat deterrents are your best friends in this situation. Think of them as the bouncers at the club, keeping unwanted guests away.
Let's talk about deterrents. Now, you've got quite a few options. There are sprays and granules you can spread around your property. They're like invisible fences that cats don't want to cross.
A 2022 study from the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery found these deterrents to be effective in reducing stray cat visits. You see, these deterrents play on a cat's sense of smell, and they do NOT like the scent.
What about an invisible sonic fence? Yep, you heard me right. Ultrasonic devices, these little gadgets emit sounds that cats find unpleasant. Though you won't hear a thing, cats will steer clear. In fact, a 2020 study by the Humane Society International proved these gadgets to be successful.
Alright, next up, traps. Hold up! I'm not talking about anything harmful. We're all about being humane here. I'm referring to the catch-and-release kind. This allows you to safely trap a stray cat and then call animal control to handle the rest.
Remember, the goal here is not to harm or punish the cats, they're just doing their thing. We just want them to do their thing somewhere else, right?
Now, you might ask, How do I use a trap? It's as easy as pie! First, you set up the trap according to its instructions - every trap is a little different. Next, put a bit of cat food inside as bait. Then, you wait.
Once you've got a cat in the trap, call your local animal control. They'll take the cat, check it out, and hopefully find it a new home.
But here's an even simpler trick: citrus! Cats can't stand the smell of citrus. Chop up some oranges or lemons, scatter them around your yard, and watch those cats make themselves scarce.
Look, I know this might sound like a lot of work. But once you get these measures in place, you're golden. It's like setting up your home security system. One time effort, lifetime peace.
So, there you have it, folks. Now you know how to get rid of stray cats permanently. Remember, it's all about deterring the cats, not harming them.

Marie Antoinette once said, "Let them eat cake". Today, cat lovers say, "call animal control". Same basic thing. Answer with non-answer. Animal control in most places already has so many cats that they will refuse to come out and take it. Even the local cat lady charity will snub you. They will all tell you to keep the G D thing in your own yard and suck it up. Basically, all the damage the cat is doing to you is not their concern, but the cat's life and happiness is. Cats are more important than people to these nuts. Anybody that tells you to kiss a cat's a** should be required to take and care for such cat themselves. Nobody should be forced to harbor a pet-being any animal that is not native to an area *and* does not provide benefit to the environment (e.g. honeybees).

The best way to prevent is blocking their access to your home. There are some special fences you can find on internet. Cats can’t enter or can’t go out.

Sorry for the late reply. I'll suggest the following... Contact Local Animal Control or Humane Society: They can provide advice on dealing with stray or feral cats. In some areas, they offer trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs. TNR involves trapping the cats, having them neutered, and then returning them to their territory. This approach helps to control the population over time. Speak with Your Neighbor: If you haven't already, consider discussing the situation with your neighbor. They might not be aware of the extent of the problem their cats are causing. It's essential to approach this conversation diplomatically. Secure Your Trash Cans: Ensure your trash cans have secure lids that can't be easily opened by animals. This can help deter the cats from knocking them over. Protect Your Property: For the underpinning of your trailer, consider using cat deterrents. Commercial options include motion-activated sprinklers or ultrasonic devices. Alternatively, natural deterrents like citrus peels or certain plants (like lavender or rue) can also be effective. Check Local Ordinances: Your city or county might have regulations regarding the number of pets a household can have and how they must be cared for. If the situation is extreme, it might be necessary to involve local authorities. Health Considerations: Given your health situation, minimizing stress and avoiding potential health risks is crucial. Stray or feral cats can carry diseases, so it's important to handle this situation with care. Remember, the goal should be to find a solution that is humane for the cats and resolves the issues for you and your neighbors. It's also important to keep in mind that solutions like TNR take time to be effective. Patience and consistent effort are key.

@@getridofit man. Fellas do be asking you to spend serious cash to deal with an issue not caused by you. Like seriously. For the true solutions that actually work (sonic devices), because let's face it anyone owning 14 cats who use their neighbors lawn as a litterbox is probably also quite belligerent, any other solution is going to run you hundreds to cover your property.

I have fed my stray cats. Not enough to feed more than one or 2. It's sometimes 20 or 30 below zero in the winter here. Having 3 indoor cats I want to help those out door homeless cats. I did trap my first guy after about a year and he found a home in about a week at the humane society. I have fed my second guy "big grey" for about a year and a half. I also have a black and white 2nd cat now. I do not want a big group here so just feed 2 small bowls a day. So far no winter here this year. High temps and no snow. Glad conditions are good for those out door homeless lives. The cats can't help their condition. My last indoor cat was a kitten that dared to follow children home. she got turned in to the Humane Society and I gave her a home 5 years ago. She started life as a homeless kitten.

In England you should NOT trap a domestic cat. Any cruelty to pets is a criminal offence! Yes use deterants but nothing that will maim or kill. If in doubt what you can do, in England, contact your local R.S.P.C.A.

I don’t mind cats but when they spray and defecate on our personal possessions that’s where I draw the line. If I have a dog, it needs to be on a leash right? Why not cats? If a dog pees on your car tire you would be angry. So where does it make it ok for a stray or a pet cat someone let out to spray on my car/ my possessions? This subject frustrates me.
