How to Get Rich [Full Interview with Dave Ramsey]

Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Dave kept me from wasting my 20s in an aimless, self indulgent cloud of prolonged childhood. I'm 27, I'll be quitting my job to stay home with my child soon and it's only because Dave promised me that debt is servitude to a careless master. All adults in my life have let me down in the area of personal finance, but Dave has been there for me since I was 18 and handed me a map and promised me it was somewhere I would want to go. And he was totally right. 🙌💕

I met dave in my 20s and quickly realized his books only apply to people who already have money. If you are poor with no resources focus on making more money and don't worry about debt. Dave's plans will not help you until you increase your income.

@@ShermanWilliamsVideo I've heard that argument too, like "I don't budget because I make only enough money for essentials" but that is exactly the person who needs to be budgeting. And Dave goes over career development, side hustles, limiting housing and food and transporation costs to put as much money as possible towards debt. My husband and I were making very little money when we started but Dave's plan gave us a clear map for every pay raise and life change. Having a plan at all is preferred even if you're walking slowly in the beginning.

For real, people underestimate how much they can rake in from the stock market. Started with $127k just before the pandemic hit. Many people's portfolios tanked, but I rode through with my financial advisor, and even made more than $86k within just five months of starting, and it's been an awesome ride since then.

People often underestimate financial advisors' importance. Over 50 years of data reveal that those who work with advisors typically earn more than those who go it alone. I've been fortunate to work with one for 13 years, resulting in a $1 million portfolio, largely from early investments in AI and other growth stocks.

Ramsey follower here. When the wife and I went through FPU, we weren't in BAD shape, but we weren't in GOOD shape. We went through the process, and even though my wife was mad that, after the first class, I came home and paid off the credit cards and the truck, she got on board, and in about 18 months we paid off what equaled $64k in debt (which included a complete HVAC overhaul). We're now to the point that we're starting a business as a side hustle, with hopes to become a full hustle. That's how I found Alex. You guys are awesome and inspiring. An interview together? What I like about Alex is that he talks about the business side. Most finance channels focus on wealth accumulation, saving, and budgeting. But Alex doesn't sugarcoat it. If you want to be wealthy. Like wealthy wealthy. You need to use leverage. There's no way around it. Being a diligent investor and budgeting might make you a millionaire by the time you retire. But to become outrageously wealthy, like a decamillionaire, you can't be selling dollars for hours. It's definitely an interesting niche and not for everyone. Most people are probably fine with reaching financial independence on a normal income. But I find the idea of scaling into something more to be very inspirational.

The best advice Mr. Ramsey gives: 1) you must have money put away for when "life doesn't go according to plan." [This is NOT investments.] 2) if your housing cost is more than 25% of your income, you need a second job. [Or a smaller housing cost.] If you do these two things, you dont need debt. So get out of debt today.

I grew to a 7 figure mark with my portfolio having exposure to different areas of the market, including small and large-caps of the ETF index, international stocks, coins, grade bonds and alternatives like currency markets, as this helps manage the overall risk on my portfolio managed by my FA.. Credits to my adviser, Lisa Rosa Cavanagh, It has been a year and half of steady growth .all love from here

Love this , ‘organizations will not outgrow the character and intellectual capacity of their leadership” So true. And even more so, the leadership under the bosses has a huge impact on this. When you have lazy managers and directors, employees will ‘quiet quit’. When you take advantage and take for granted hard work, your employees will quiet quit. When management plays games and play favoritism, it causes a crappy workplace. Learning this the hard way as an employee who has worked his ass off and burnt out many times who has become miserable trying to do everything when I should have vouched for myself and spoke up. Working for better days, god bless you all. Know your worth!

I wasn’t in debt but I was being stupid with money, spending most of what I made. I found Dave last year and have turned around my thinking and my finances. I was able to pay a year’s rent for a nice place straight off because I don’t have the paperwork a lot of people in the uk have due to being self employed. I was able to pay the full year’s rent because I had that money in my bank account. I am saving - I have enough for next year’s rent - for a semi retirement in 7 years’ time. Life is much easier for me now. I have money! The money that I earn. I am now telling people wherever I can about Dave Ramsey, and all of his advice is on KZread for free! It is awesome and God is good. Thank you Dave. Thank you. Let’s help people and promote the Kingdom.

Hey Alex, the video was interesting, even to me who is not your typical audience. But the title is misleading, and I think you know that. There is little here that the audience drawn to this title can use. It would be more appropriate to use something like, "Interviewing Dave Ramsey: What is the ONE thing small business owners should do, but don't?" or "What will Dave Ramsey teach me about money?" or maybe, "Peeking behind the curtain, an interview with Dave Ramsey." You get the idea. If either you are Dave Ramsey taught anything that would get the average joe like myself rich in this video, the title would be fine. But the video is about business, how Dave built his, and the need for using risk analysis in business and real estate decisions. There is also some history about both of you here. But nothing that I can take with me into my real life and become wealthy. There's "no meat on that bone" as Dave would probably say.

Accumulating wealth requires the cultivation of strong habits, such as consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for sound investments. Financial management is a vital but often overlooked subject, which can come back to haunt those who neglect it. Earning money is only one part of the equation; preserving and growing it is equally essential. The lack of formal education on investments in schools is a glaring omission. The instances you mentioned are illustrative, with the market crisis leading to my initial substantial gains. While many shy away from challenging times, I've learned to embrace them, or at least my advisor does, with a touch of humor.

Dave's advice is most effective for young people, because what he preaches compounds and that takes more time than people who are getting their s*** together at 40 can really afford to do. In other words more drastic measures than Dave preaches are required to actually achieve something great once you get past 35 to 40 years old.
