Another good tip is to regularly read, vote and comment on other peoples work. No one will read your books if you just publish them and keep to yourself, because no one will even know you exist on the website lol.

If you’re making fanfiction, try not to keep it to yourself. Try to get it out there as much as possible. Compliment other people’s work and ask anyone if they’d like to check you out. This doesn’t only go for FanFiction it goes for any genre if you’re trying to get your book out

Honestly it's kind of sad that the only way to get mainstream on there is if you write about One Direction or hot guys getting it on with the new girl or another guy. But thankfully there is always a 12 o'clock for actual books without using videos and music to be recognized.

I know what you mean. I wrote two books about a sci fi fantasy adventure and only two people have read the whole thing. the guys in my book arnt shirtless 24/7 and the most the girl has done is kiss one on the cheek. But I guess that's not interesting enough lol. Because screw plot, world building, and fight scenes! If people arnt screwing i guess they just dont care. I have about 800 views on one book and then a smutty cringe fanficton written by a 14 year old has LITERALLY millions of veiws.

I'm just at a loss. I'm starting to think ill just pull down my books and go somewhere eles to post them. but I probably won't get many eyes. the main reason I'm so concerned about this is because a lot of beginning writers rely of feedback to improve. Sinnddonnhare Maybe categorize by tags and genres? Checkboxes can work for Wattpad. At least it can reduce seeing fanfiction titles on the front all of the time. And for those that only want fanfiction, they can check that box and type in "one direction", "shawn mendes","fifth harmony" for a tag or whatever floats their boat.

this video is in my recommendation and i just wanna share my experience :) i am a filipino writer in wattpad and i started writing my own story in 2013 and since i lack from popularity, i left wattpad with my work undone. it been months after i returned and to my surprise, it got views and likes! it even have comments saying that i should continue writing it so i did continue it. my advice for gaining likes, views or attention from readers is, it'll really take time and do your best. just believe in your works! fighting!! good tips i can give are: 1. tags are important 2. use famous people for your characters 3. aim to know what the public wants 4. regularly vote on other/s work/s (i didn't do this but since people are saying that it is a good tip then i included it) 5. trust your works! good luck!

You can't write anything good unless you take a month on a chapter.

I've been writing what I would want to read for a year. I am soon to finish my last book in the trilogy. I've been a member of wattpad for around a year and a half, but only have 19 followers, and my first book hasn't even reached 400 reads. I write about Warriors, based on the original series by Erin Hunter. But they're never noticed. Sometimes people can start as humble as me and become absolutely engulfed in reads and followers and votes and comments within a month. I don't know how to be successful. Sometimes I think I just shouldn't. I only get about one read per chapter sometimes.

Typical ShyG There is nothing wrong with that, after a few times you don’t even have to leave it in if the dialogue continues for a while. People tend to overuse dialogue words to sound fancy but this can also make it sound forced. Keeping ‘he/she said’ keeps the focus on what they are saying. You only need to add how they are saying it here and there. Other things can show how they are speaking through punctuation, body language, etc.

You want to know what the hardest thing for me is? It's not a lack of confidence, which I have major trouble with. It's not writer's block, everyone deals with that one sometimes. It's not about the "perfect book", as such a thing is by definition impossible. It isn't even about views and votes, though I greatly appreciate both. It's asking for opinions, then getting flustered because people won't even try to look. Is it how I ask? (I aim to be respectful and polite. I hope that would be the first step...) Is it my style? (Nobody tells me, so who knows?) Is it the subject matter? (See last question.) Is it the audience? (You get the idea.) Silence is every "good" author's enemy, whether you're a would-be J.K Rowling, a Stephen King, or even a newcomer with only one chapter and all the hope in the world. I like to think that even if my own star is dim and unknown, I made at least *somebody* satisfied with my writing--even if that someone is only myself. I've been writing ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I've written some dog stories, some mediocre stories, some great stories, and stories all in between. (Most have never seen the light of day, but that's not the point.) One thing that keeps me coming back is the thought that one of these days I'll hear somebody was happy reading my story. Even when people say "OMG U SUK" that's still a louder voice than staying mute. I guess the TL:DR is, don't *ever* give up, even when you feel terrible about yourself. (BTW, I'm @SubzeroDragon on Wattpad. I'm currently working on a fantasy novel, if anyone's interested. It's called Strangers of Aeon. www.wattpad.com/story/244129406-strangers-of-aeon? Okay, back again, one of my main issues with Wattpad right now is the inability to indent. We're writing stories, not Facebook comments. What's up with that? It just seems incredibly strange for paragraphs not to have the first line spaced out. I've had experiences when I tap the space bar five times and they magically disappear and carry the first line back to the writing boundary. It's so aggravating.

She isn’t very specific with all the things though. Take the time to add SATURATION and CONTRAST to the cover to catch eyes. But you are still right misty because I had to do follow for follow to get a starting with followers. It’s hard

Great tips Jen!! Those sound like they build a solid foundation for any writer. What have you done in ways of proactively promoting your stories/chapters? Do you have a promotion schedule as well as publishing schedule? What works and what hasn't worked for you there?

I'm a fetus writer but,I think that regular uploads and reading other's books are very helpful actually. it keeps me going on.

It's sad that the only way to get mass attention is if the characters stoop to 50 Shades of Grey or One Direction hormones low. Yuck. I love reading historical fiction stories on there because it just feels like I can escape and travel through a different realm, plus I don't have an e-reader or Barnes & Noble gift card to buy those types of published novels.

Francesca Foley​​​ well, i must say since i was a kid i absolutely loved the Harry Potter books which is why i love writing fantasy and even sci-fi. Zombie apocalypses, wizards, vampires and werewolves are what i write for the most part. Of course a hint of romance is almost always included. But i also write romantic novels although i'm lesbian so i'm not really familiar with writing romantic novels with straight characters. Haha.

Somehow I'm revisiting this video after about a year. I have 200+ followers on wattpad now and mainly because in my very early days I followed a lot of these advices. I've got another advice, do not hesitate to promote your book. Sometimes, when your book is new, it does not get the response it deserves mainly because the wattpad algorithm works that way. So YOU have to give it a boost, you have to make sure that your book gets the required reads and votes for wattpad to finally notice it and recommend it to the readers who might be interested.

guys I have a book on wattpad titled "storms that go in the minds of people who can't sleep at night". I don't care about the votes or the attention I just want people to check it out and tell me what they think.

make the title shorter for a start, try "Storms of the Sleepless Psyche" or "Hurricane of the Restless Insomniac".

I’m writing a book called “Burning Waters” and it’s a fantasy-romance book. I’m only 14 and I think writing is pretty fun, although I don’t expect to go anywhere with it. I haven’t published any chapters, yet, and I’m trying to my best to make at as feasible as I can get it to be so people will have a good time reading it. I’m only new to writing, so of course I’m not so detailed and all that like all the other writers out there who are very good at catching great moments and making a book enjoyable! So I try my best!

did u see my wig it's gone 1000-1500 words could be fine per chapter. It's all mobile, so rarely does anyone want to read through anything longer. But it could also depend on your book. If it's a light, fluffy, comical, etc read that doesnt need to be taken /too/ seriously, it can be shorter. If it's darker, heavier, serious, etc then you can make it longer. And if you're especially unsure, you can experiment with what you think works best for you, and even ask for feedback from your viewers!

another tip is to make an instagram, tiktok, twitter, account or anything like that promoting your book. i did that and my book has grown a lot over the past 24-48 hours

Good tips from Jen for Wattpad writers who already have a few readers/viewers. But for those with almost no viewers, please cover the most basic steps of getting one's first readers. I have been on Wattpad for several months with only 16 readers. Yet I see the same formulaic stories of Romance, Horror, Betrayal, etc with many of the same readers.

So I made a story that was cringe worthy (at least for me) and I went on hiatus on wattpad because I started to binge watch detective Conan. I went back to wattpad again yesterday and even though my stories just got little views, one person was actually waiting for me to update it. I have just started a book about an object that will burn the closer you get to the one you love but the main character souls mate is an enemy of her city so it’s an enemy to lovers type of book and I’m trying to make her getting to him longer but I’m not entirely sure how I’ve uploaded 4 Parts at the moment and have my friends reading it to give feedback. At the moment it’s all been good let’s hope it stays that way. My story in wattpad is only 15 chapters long. I then, accidentally removed wattpad on my phone and I can't get it back since it was full of storage.. Then, for a few months I got a new phone and downloaded Wattpad but a different acc. Since I forgot my original one, then I checked my book and it got 1.3k readers, I can't call it patience but for my opinion, waiting and getting your book to know a lot more better is to not push and pressure them to read your book. *that was my first book and that was a little short and messy. But I still managed to get 1.3k.* I'm not bragging

Omg! The first tip is so clear. I'll speak to my friends and theyd be like, oh I upload regularly and sometimes miss the schedule because I'm still writing it. I kept telling them to write the story first but they wouldn't listen. The reasons I write the story first is because, 1. I want to upload regularly and don't want to make people mad... 2. I loose concentration really easily, so if I start to write a book, publish it and then get bored of the story line, but also have lots of readers waiting for the next chapter... I gone f*cked up. So finally! Someone whose smart!

I recommend the book "coming after us". It's a teenage mystery. Amazing!!❤️
