I have been using thief on Pikachus for about 3 hours, so I found this vid and it turns out I already have a light ball but I just didn’t know that it automatically sent it to my bag

You'll have to do the manual item removal but if you use trick instead of thief you should be able to get the light ball without damaging the Pikachu. Just make sure you don't have an item already or you will lose it

I’m currently trying to use the Pikachu event to find a light ball and it’s been a task to say the least, but with this video, I at least know that light ball does exist in the Pokémon scarlet and violet gameplay without just getting it from the terra raid

Still got 50 Light Balls Bro…I still am trying to get a Light Ball through the Pikachu Event in Kitakami.

For anyone watching this, remember that persistence is key. Unfortunately, Compound Eyes no longer raises the chance of finding items on Pokemon in this gen for some stupid reason, so it took me about 30+ Pikachu encounters before I managed to get my hands on a light ball. Remember that aside from Thief and Covet, you can also use item switch moves like Switcheroo (I used Persian) and Trick to be able to snag a light ball without having to damage the Pikachu. Thanks to the exploit mentioned at 2:55, I managed to score 10 Light Balls doing this.

You realize you could have made a level 2 or 3 electric item drop sandwich right? I did that and 7/10 Pikachu's I caught had a Light Ball lmao. That's the whole reason compound eyes is irrelevant now.
