Hey everyone thanks for all the engagement and questions! Quick thing: what questions & confusions do you have that you want me to create more videos on. I can answer them more comprehensively that way!

Hey, I’m also a South African wanting to apply to Brown and I wanted to know if you have any tips on how to get scholarships as well as if it’s absolutely necessary to have achievements in sports and/or cultural activities? 🌸

Can you please give advice on making the brown video portfolio and how to make it admission worthy i guess 😂 Thanks! 😊
You structured this video so well; got straight to the point, discussed the content to be explored, added chapters to section it into digestible parts, covered content concisely, summed up with a clear conclusion. I don't think I've ever seen a better KZread video.
Congratulations on your academics and extracurriculars! You did a great job with your studies and experiences! That is very impressive. My name is Andres by the way. It is pleasure to meet you. Good luck with your top school. God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️
manifestation works y'all!!!!!!! i remember watching this video last year, and now i'm getting ready to attend umich next month! tips i took away from this video and other college content: look at how you fit with the university's main mission / promotion of themselves (umich's was "Leader's and Best" and "Work Hard. Play Hard."), while also demonstrating how you will utilize resources on campus. Also, a tip is to write a list of positive qualities about yourself, and if your application isn't representative of that, show a way of expressing those in your essays. My main themes I wanted to show were community service, leadership, and being hard working in my activities/schoolwork, so I made sure everything reflected that. Good luck everyone!!!!!! (and yes ik umich isn't an ivy, but it's perfect to me ok!!)
Wow ... i watched a lot of these videos but yours is by far one of the most important to me. Thank you , you gave an advice i'll never forget , thank you❤

Is there a way you can review my application essays for me?
Hi, Sorry I have a question. Im an international student from Japan from a school that is not known for uni abroad. Where should I mention the school's details and curriculum rigor? (Rec letters, additional information essay etc) Thanks!
Hi! I'm an international student from Canada and my school does not offer a rigorous cirriculum. No AP, IB, or honours classes. I also live in a rural area and do not really have the options financially to take those classes outside of school. Will I be okay with a 1560 SAT? Also, amazing video btw, thanks for the insight!

I'm so glad you found the video helpful! Your SAT score of 1560 is impressive, and it will definitely help you stand out in comparison with other students. While I can't predict application outcomes, my general advice for a friend in a similar situation would be to do exactly what you've done: take the SAT and excel in it. Additionally, I would recommend working closely with your school guidance counselor to clearly explain your curriculum and highlight how you've challenged yourself within the available resources.
Hey! I had an average high school GPA, but I took a gap year and scored 1500 on my SAT. I have an overall strong profile. Do you think my SAT score will make up for the average GPA? I am focusing on applying to Babson and UPenn specifically.

You should have mind blowing ecs then cut 1500 sat as an international student (if you are) or a normal student 1500 is not enough to get into sat for Ivies a minimum of 3.76 GPA and 1550 sat is required
How come we have to take SATs but not all international students😂
wait if I took the IGCSEs and A levels would u still recommend me to take SATs?

It depends on which schools you are applying to, as some have started making the SAT mandatory again. Having done A-levels, which are already standardized, will definitely help. However, as I mentioned in the video, if I were recommending a friend in this application cycle, I would encourage them to take the SAT. I didn't take it because, at the time, all schools were test-optional, I didn't have much time to study for it, and during peak COVID, schools gave more grace to those who didn't take the test, as many students were opting out. The current trend indicates that more students are starting to take the SAT again. If you can take it and achieve a good score through practice, I would recommend doing so. You want to optimize your application as much as possible. Good luck 😊

@@JanyaKaur Oh alright thank you very much . Your taking the time to do this means the world to me!
Heyyy💕❤️another South African girly here I’m so glad I came across your channel 😭I have a question , when a university talks about GPA in South African terms do they mean your final learners average or what I’m really confused
@JanyaKaur
20 күн бұрын
Hey, so glad you did too! When universities talk about GPA in South African terms, they are asking for your average grade across all your subjects. On the Common App, you don't need to convert your grades to a 4.0 scale (but if you have an A or above, that would be a 4.0, I believe). You can enter your average out of 100. This means you should calculate the average of all your final grades for the year. So, if you have 7 subjects, you will find the average of the grades from all 7. Hope this helps!

@@JanyaKaur So the average grade from grade 9 or grade 12? And another question is I didn’t do quite well grade 11 due to some health issues but I’m doing exceptionally well now do I still have a chance?
are you an international student? i also wanted to apply to fall 2025, but seeing massive layoffs in tech and also many articles have stated that internationals from elite ivies even with degrees in STEM havent been able to get a internship is this true? so should i consider coming over there as an international???
@JanyaKaur

Yes, I am an international student, and it can be challenging to secure internships due to visa restrictions. However, with proper planning and navigating the circumstances thoughtfully, it is very doable. I have international friends in tech who are doing amazing internships, while others have had a harder time finding one. As for deciding whether to come to the US, it really depends on your personal situation and the options available in your home country. It's a different decision for everyone, so you need to weigh these factors carefully. Personally, I’m glad I made the choice to come-I’m really enjoying it. But I also know others who feel differently. It’s all about your individual circumstances.

Hey you're from India right? so can u please tell me, that do we need to take AP classes, as here in schools we don't get them offered!!!
@JanyaKaur
25 күн бұрын
Hey! I'm from South Africa, where we also don't have AP classes. Instead, I did Cambridge A-levels, which are on a similar level of difficulty to AP courses. What curriculum are you following? Is it IB, A-levels, or something else? These are generally weighed similarly to AP courses. AP is more common in the American education system. It's important to challenge yourself academically in the subjects you are passionate about and seek other ways to demonstrate your knowledge and skills, such as through extracurricular activities. Whatever you can do to show that you sought academic rigor and challenged yourself will help.

@@JanyaKaur But Cambridge A levels cost around 25,000 inr in India, is there any affordable course that has same value, because of my financial background and need for scholarship.
this should blow up! so underrated tbh
