For my batch (2022) so many students got 100% in their term 1 exam and might have raised the bar. The 97% thing is based on the information I collected from my peer Indian students. (It's not a cut off, it's kinda a estimate)

Ofc NTU and NUS are better than IIT. NTU is ranked 19 on QS, while NUS is ranked 11 (and regarded as the best university in Asia)
