Do we need to do surgical electives in UK or in home country? And can we take them while in 4th yr mbbs? Only the distinction in final year counts? What about the other years?

Hello Sir, 1. What would you suggest about how Pakistani MBBS students should plan for undergoing surgical training in the UK? What steps should be done back home? 2. Should we take the MRCS examination in Pakistan or after coming to the UK after PLAB?
@harrissiddique

1. This is not straight forward answer but look at competencies required for surgical training .and work on them this video will help you as well . The process has changed this year . I will make a new video on that as time allows 2.either way ,you may give MRCS straight away without giving PLAB
Do you know the approximate minimum mark needed in the 'self-scored' part of the CST portfolio (so a mark out of 70) to ensure someone is shortlisted to attend an interview?
@harrissiddique

Its percentile , changes each year eg in one year they might have very high scoring candidates this will lead to very high cut off mark and vice versa . Generally it would be around 45-55 range
could you please help , @harris siddique 1) any online surgical courses to get courses points ? 2) does it have to be e logbook , can my local hospital log book be provided as proof ?

Hi Harris. This video is so helpful, thank you! I had a question about CCrISP. I'm working as a non-trainee F2, and the course is apparently not for foundation trainees? I tried to apply but they said I am not eligible. Do you know if there's a workaround or should I try to find other surgical courses?

Hello Doctor, thank you for the video, and thank you for replying to the comments. I have undergone my internship back home, as it something that we do before the exit exams and getting our degree. Currently, I am preparing for the PLAB exams. I have three questions, and i would really appreciate your guidance. I have the opportunity to work in a European hospital for a period of time as an intern in a surgical ward while I prepare for the Plab Exams. Can I document being involved in surgeries in this internship on the elogbook and have it signed by the consultant in the hospital? Will it be accepted in UK for CST ? I also have a certificate from the vice dean of my university stating that I taught med students in evidence based medicine, and helped improve the curriculum in academic English language precisely, will it count towards my points? Lastly, during the 12 months of internship back home, i took month and went to europe to work with a general surgeon in his private practice, and i have a certificate from hime stating the duration as well as a recommendation letter from him, will it count as an elective since it was before graduation ? Thank you in advance!
