How to get into a Top Business School (from a Stanford MBA!)
This is the Step-by-Step process that I used to get into my dream MBA program at Stanford with no prior connections. Though it can feel impossible to stand out among all of the other applicants, using these methods will make a HUGE difference during the application process and hopefully, get you into the school of your dreams :)
Specifically, I go through:
- How to Differentiate Your Resume
- How to Make Your Application Stand Out
- How to Write a Compelling Essay
- How to Prep for and Crush the Interview
This one is packed full of great info, so make sure to watch till the end!

This is one of the best and relatable "how to B school" videos I've seen on youtube! Thanks for the great content :) hopefully I can put the lessons into practice and hit you up for an informational alum interview when I start my application process
Having just gone through a very stressful/unorganized application process but luckily been admitted to an M7 B School, I really wish this video existed before I started applying. Spot on content.
Another banger John!! So much value in a 12 minute vid. I’m grinding the GMAT now and hearing your experience with that makes me feel much better! It’s certainly a beast, but one that can be tamed! Still a few years away from applying, but excited to continue leveling up in both my traditional career (JPM IB) and unique side hustle (YT creator)!

Educational content can be overwhelming, but this video really eased many nerves with its direct simplistic nature. I feel more equipt and directed finishing the last year of my undergrad and moving into a company making the most impactful difference, much appreciated Jay!

Heck ya Bakul - wear your unique background as your COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE!!! Keep me updated where ya get in!
the vast majority of people will not be able to get above 700 on the GMAT, someone that's so gifted and has obviously studied a lot in his life to already be so fast and well prepared for the math etc. telling people that it's THAT easy... is like Usain Bolt telling you if you just practice a bit systematically you WILL hit the olympics... you are absolutely amazing at taking standardized tests my man you scored better than 99/100 dedicated people with a college degree from around the world.

But most people are not people who apply to top tier business schools. I think for anyone who thrives in a competitive intellectual environment, the GMAT should be the least of their application worries
Congratulations 🎉
Thanks for this video John! I was on the verge of giving up on the GMAT, but your advice is very motivating 😊Stanford is my dream school and I was wondering if you could do a video on MBA scholarships/financing.

Amazing contentttt love it John. I wonder if only non profit experience counts
Who else busted out laughing when the engagement ring box popped up with "GMAT" inside?
Thank you so much for the amazing video! All throughout my undergrad years I also worked as a sales associate for T-Mobile. I now have 2 years of experience in retail banking at Bank of America, after graduating. Do you think my years of working for T-Mobile carry enough weight to have a shot at top MBA programs in the country?
Great Content!

When to get the gmat? which year of high school?
Hey John! Just wondering what undergrad major do they like to see, I’m planning on doing finance with a emphasis in fintech which is just some classes from the CS curriculum with a heavy emphasis in python. Do you believe that is good?

This reminds me of a excerpt from "On writing the college application essay." You shouldn't be thinking of what they want from you. They don't discriminate, like john pointed out in this video. Go back to 4:00 and take a look at all the industries listed. They aren't looking at a rubric going, " well he's not cs", or, " I don't like that he's not in finance." It's a 'holistic' viewing of your story, your resume, your experience, and why you think that business school is right for you. :))) hope that helps
Cool ❤
Can a paralegal have a shot in getting into these schools?
I just graduated high school and will start my undergrad this year. I really want to go to a top B-school. Any tips for me? How do I know if the deferral MBA program is for me or should I get the work experience and then decide? Thank you in advance for your time!!

I am now 43 years old and I work as an architect. I have a master’s degree in business administration- (MBA) and I would very much like to get a phd at this age. Is this crazy or what?
Question! Are extracurriculars important or is there even a section where you talk about those?
