Yeah, I was thinking it would have been nice if they had done an A/B with the volume leveled between the tracks. This plugin is a subtle effect as it is. With the volume not being leveled, most people that get it will be disappointed...even though it actually is helping the track. But...marketing gets in the way of demonstrating the actual effect.

Thank u for the gift, highly appreciated. There's a knob for leveling/compensating gain. Folks, watch the whole video, it is not a plug-in that only raises volume, it adds harmonics that's why it sounds louder. Simple, and great job Waves!

The unbypassed segments are louder, because of the added overtones. You have to level-match the samples first, before you can make a judgement.

Everything sounds better louder . The active/bypass comparison whould have been level macthed so we can really hear what the plug in is doing😔

To those here who think they know what this does only by listening to a video: 1) It doesn't just make things louder - after adjusting the output gain, the tone is still different (and better, to my ears). 2) Auto gain compensation sounds like a nice idea, but personally I'd rather adjust that myself rather than assume an automatic method is doing it in the way I'd like. 3) It's free! You can test it yourself and see how you like it. Through actually using it, I am impressed with it and can see myself using it a lot.

It's called marketing. They could add this. But the way the volume increases when you use the plugin makes you automatically think that it sounds "better".

@@TinoSchulz1990 Yes. Just tried it. It can noticeably increase or decrease the loudness. I'm sure @Waves already has code libraries to add loudness compensation, I hope it will be added in a future version of the plugin.

This looks useful. Thanks and also thanks for showing (at 4:00) how the saturation effect increases presence and even perceived loudness, but doesn't really impact Peak & RMS Levels. That's great. Can't wait to try it out.

Matching loundness is essential. Anything other than that feels like an attempt to cheat. Of course peak levels don't change as the plugin gets engaged as its compressing and saturating. But lufs and rms does rais. You need to level match.

On a track, At which point in the fx chain is it best to insert this, right at the start before eq, compression or after at the end of the chain?

There's no better. They both do different things. If you put it at first you'll eq and compres the saturated signal, the tube sat will react differently to the audio. If you'd like to first do some surgical work like cutting away some frequencies, you can put the tube sat after. I use both ways.

Too bad you cant link the drive and Output knob…Well, actually you can by holding cmd/ctrl but then they turn in the same direction making it even louder 😅 I found that approx Value 1 on the Drive = -1 db gain reduction on the output…. Also i feel sad you dont have low/high pass filters in the plugin :/ Am i asking for too much? 😂

You can do it in reaper. Any plugin. It has 100x the features of any other daw. Not to be one of those reaper guys. But it's useful. Worth trying.

@@jeremylarue4503 we may not be on the same page here. What can you do in reaper or any daw? I spoke about plugin features, not daw features. I spoke about low/high pass on the plugin. I am aware you can always do parallel processing. But they gve away this plugin for you to feel how good it is, so wave can sell another bbtubes plugin that obtains all features :) marketing…

You can link plugin parameters in reaper. You can create auto gain by linking drive to output, and reverse it. And anything else you can think to do with linked parameters. That's what I was referring to. Feel like a fanboy bringing Reaper up all the time. But it can do a lot of super useful things.

@@jeremylarue4503 interesting, i didnt know about that. Its ok to mention Reaper, i moved from Cubase to Reaper because i really see t as superior comparing to Cubase. I needed some time to get use to it and customize everything, but after that…o boy, thats what you call a proper daw! And for what money!? Silly…

It saturates too. Not just gain. But since it's waves it aliases quite a bit at higher settings... not very audible on low freq content, but not good for cymbals etc. Not bad for a free plugin.

when making a tutorial video. it's better to use a musical style other than hip-hop. The over use of electronic instruments will make the the effect of plugins unrecognizable.
