I LOVED the fact that people purposedly left the bottle near the bins to help the homeless to get some cents. It really shows you can make a difference. You giving away more than what you earned from those bottle also showed how nice you are to people.

It‘s actually also another reason: A lot of people just don‘t want to carry the empty bottles and throw it away. And if they throw it away, they try to be nice to homeless people and put it on the side rather than inside. I‘d also say: Most germans would rather give an empty bottle to a homeless person than giving 25 cents. It‘s kind of a hidden value. Correct me if i‘m wrong :)

@@bisschenMeinung maybe (and it could be that i interpreted it wrong) they leave the bottle knowing that once no one see them, homeless people will get it and switch them for money in those machine keeping a sense of dignity. Whilst some may think that directly giving money might affect someone pride or, in fact, dignity. In italy we don’t have these machines so i often give them money or buy them a meal but i understand every person has a different mindset. Either way helping feeds the soul and makes someone’s day

In Portugal we are starting do a similar thing, but instead of the bottles give us actual money they give coupons that you discont when go to a supermarket or you also have the option of donate that value to charity 💖🇵🇹

We have this in Finland. Having a big party where people bring booze, I once even took the bottles back and made €35 back. Basically got paid to party lol Big 1.5 litre bottles get 40 cents back here, so it all adds up.

0:43 and in finland, estonia, sweden and thats about it have these pledges but finland was the first one to invent the pledges in plastic bottles and cans but yet its coming to glass bottles too Ps: you can still recycle bottles and cans that dont have the mark and i dont undestand taht you have stores in germany that dont accept the bottles if you dont sell them in finland we have lidl that is the only store but in germany its like multiple not good way to inspire recycling people have to walk big distances between stores and that just down grades the recycling that you dont wanna walk there or cant walk there kinda weird

yes though its good system it somehow sucks but now in finland they wanted to recycle glass bottles, pretty good and there is like big bottle recycling machine that you can just dump bag full of bottles and it sorts them and then you dont have to do anything just wait and you get money

Been wanting this in England for years mate! You fix multiple problems at the same time. Less litter. Homeless or people down on their luck can reduce the litter further by finding and claiming bottles and recycling them! Two massive issues in society today helped by affectively doing very little to solve it! Makes so much sence I don't know why this isn't everywhere!

Love this video. Reminds me when I went to Berlin and I saw people collecting bottles throughout the night. They also did this in the nightclub that I went to which was amazing! Costa Rica is another country that adopts this recycling incentive.
