Use acetone for a few days to dissolve the glue! Then you don't remove the protective coatings on the neos.

Apple earbuds are made very precise and compact. They have very tiny magnets in them and they don't come out easy. You'll have to break the casing with pliers or some hammer, then you can reach the magnet. Then you can chip it off with some knife.

If you are doing that just for getting magnets, just break the plastic with some hammer or pliers.
