This is exactly kzread.infoUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.

Thank you for this Eugene ❤ I'm 6'2 and 323 pounds (was 330 2 months ago so I must be doing something right lol). I just started the gym and I was trying the barbell squat, I got 3 sets of 5 for 50 kg and could really feel the burn however, it's just so awkward positioning myself under the bar, my legs are quite long compared to my torso so I found myself tilting. I was walking around the gym and saw the hacksqaut machine and thought to give it a go, and although it was very new to me, it felt so much safer. I'll keep using it as my main quad developer from now on, along with the leg press and the splits. Hope you're keeping well brother, and thank you again.

It's great to mix it up with regular barbell squats and other assisted squats, like the hack squat machine. One issue I've had personally, is using machines too much, then ending up with a strength imbalance between by legs and core/back. I got to a point where my back and core would tire much faster than my legs, which began to mess up my barbell squat technique. By the 3rd set I would start to slouch, but my legs would still be O.K.

Hey Eugene, thank you for the awesome content as usual. Your channel is pretty much the only place I turn to these days when I'm actually trying to learn something new on the topic - and I did - regarding the aspect of the difference in hip flexion on the rear leg when doing split squats. You brought up an awesome point there. I totally agree with you on your preference for the hack squat. However, I am also a big fan of elevated heel squats; since with the right amount of elevation, you can get that super effective straight torso setup even with a barbell. I implement all three.

Hacksquat-variation and legpress are currently my 2 mains. Dropset of death on legpress is always fun, dropping one plate all the way down to 1 plate. Makes you appreciate air and be able to breath normal. Another ”fun” quadkiller is picking a song, around 4min long, and then doing 1 set of leg extensions until the song ends. 1 minute is easy, the last 3 are pure pain.

And now that I’ve had my spinal fusion and recovering I’m looking forward to engaging my legs in some training again. Question, is that your personal training facility seen the videos? Take a look at some of my videos maybe there’s something we can collaborate on sometime and you can help get my legs caught up to my upper body ;) Adam

Great video. Love the perspective on Bulgarian split squats. I use them with a lot of my athletes, and personally, but love the stabilizer muscle demand for balance as it is so pertinent to sports performance. However, using them in the manner that you do during a bulk phase, for a running back for instance, puts an interesting spin on peak hypertrophy squared of load lifted.

I have a love hate relationship with bulgarian split squats, I'm sure everyone does but they are always somewhere in my training plan. On the hack squat, whenever I've done them I always feel like I am pushing back rather than up and I can't put much weight on due to my strength being compromised. Any ideas why this could be?

Can't say for sure. It could be your foot placement though as your body is fighting position. Or it could just be a shit machine.

I love doing squats and split squats. But I have a postural problem. I have knock knees and it's hindering me from training optimally since I started training. Please hep me fix it if you can sir. 🙏 . I know nobody asks this, but most people are lucky and I am not. I want to be my best. Please make a video on knock knees fix or knee valgus fix. It will be of a great help.

This is interesting. I normally do barbell squats at home because I don’t like squating at the gym but I’m going to start adding in the smith machine here and there because I do agree that barbell squats can be taxing on the lower back sometimes. I don’t have access to a hack squat machine so that sucks. I’ve added Bulgarian split squats but had to practice a lot at first but man are they hard to do but super effective. I’d love to hear some of your top upper body exercises. Thanks for the tips!!!!

Yeh I had that problem too. I found time under tension training helped a great deal. Concentrating on glutes helped, dead lifts, hip thrusts. But I still love those BSSquats. The limiting factor for me turned out to be ankle mobility. Being aware of how it was throwing my form off and stretching to get every bit of flexibility out of them I could combined get with TUTT for better control I got a good degree of improvement.

Most common fault is setting rear leg too high. Lower it down to below knee height and don't take too long a stride.

Barbell Squat: Overrated, most people lack necessary mobility, lower back gives before quads, high injury potential. Bulgarian Split Squat: Underrated, most people can do properly, quads give out first, low injury potential.
