I just got my dad's old Poulan Pro 205 from 1985. It needed a $7 carb kit (the kit came with 5 rebuild kits) and it needed a fuel line which I had. She runs like new after some cleaning and tlc. I'm 42 years old and I remember cutting wood with my dad when I was like 10 years old with this exact saw. I was happy I could bring back something from my past. I have a Stiel MS250C but I love using the old vintage poulan. BTW, those foam filters are usually supposed to be oiled before use, not completely dry as you mentioned. I could be wrong about your particular model but most foam filters are designed to be oiled to work properly.

you cant beat those little pole-an ( correct pronunciation in Tennessee hillbilly country lol) saws for clearing small under brush they will outwork more expensive saws for one important reason. they are much lighter than more expensive saws so you dont tire out as easy .. staying bent over all day cutting under brush is a killer if you dont have a light weight saw .

Does it stick, feel rough, or sound clunky? If it sticks you can use a penatrating oil like PB Blaster to help loosen any rust, this will also help with the rough feeling. You can use a lubricant like WD-40 if it feels rough or sounds clunky.

what do you do if somebody decided to drill one of the holes out bigger so they can get a fuel line in it but it wouldn't seal and you get a bigger fuel line or what one I guess the return fuel line is drilled out too big for regular fuel line what do you do

Use a soldering tool to and take a screw driver and put it threw the hole and melt the plastic around and let it hardened then take your screw driver out and put a new fuel line.

I was gifted one of these months ago. I was told that it didn't run. I had little trouble getting it running. Truthfully, I didn't even find anything wrong with it. I had to adjust the carb screws or whatever they're called but that's it. I kind of lucked out because the gas had been drained (I'm guessing years ago). I noticed mine doesn't have a chain break. I wonder if there was two versions of the wood shark 1950? I dunno...

Rookie. I could hear the fuel strainer rattling around in the tank when he first shook the saw. That's a sure sign that the lines are bad! He said "I can hear the fuel in it". He was hearing the fuel strainer rattling around. So we knew it was having a fuel line problem, which is one of the most common problems but he went on to test the spark. I guess if you check all the boxes you will get it fixed eventually but it's not very efficient. Another thing is that if the fuel strainer is off the saw was likely run without a strainer and that means that any dirt in the fuel tank is getting drawn in and will end up stuck in the carburetor, which will need to be cleaned as well. Usually the primer bulb will need replacement as well.
