Drawing is the most important step in a realistic rendering, and we'll talk about and show how you can measure lines and angles in such a way that you capture the intricacy of a scene in a pleasing way that will lead to a successful plein air painting! It's always nice to talk to the folks who are interested in what you are doing. I just found your channel and I've watch a few of the gouache paintings and I like your teaching style. Your sign off is especially endearing.

Thank you very much for that comment. I’ve been tempted to stop my sign off because rare is the viewer who watches all the way to the end. But ultimately I’ve decided it’s more important to leave my core message in my videos even if 99% will never see it. It’s for anyone who’s hears it that it’s for. Thank you again!
You handled this scene like a master. Something like this, with the complicated boats and perspective, would be a nightmare for me. Great work as always!

Thanks CD! It was an exercise in seeing tangents and comparing where one line or shape intersected another. That really helped a lot. I’m some ways I think complex scenes with lots of lines and shapes are easier in this regard than something more amorphous or rounded (like a portrait or an animal) I’m trying to work on those too! Haha.
