Thank you so much for your channel! I really want to get into tech, not sure what niche I want to do. I spent the last year learning programming but I also enjoy a lot of other things. I work as a legal secretary but even a lot of people there come to me with I.T. support type questions on a weekly basis so it's making me want to learn more about I.T. since I want to be offer better assistance to people so maybe I should look more into the I.T. route. 😄

Super inciteful! I'm working towards my BA in Computer science at the moment but really wanted to get a head start in terms of experience and was stuck lol. Thanks for explaining everything in a manner that was both clear and to the point!

I have a bachelor's in MIS and I'm still looking for work. I just started a job today and my goal is to save up and take a comptia a+ exam. From what I hear it is supposed to give me an overall understanding of IT and serves a good way to decide whether I want to study for cybersecurity. So I'm gonna save money for this. I finished school in 2020, during covid, so I'm pumped about getting the ball rolling again. Wish me luck! 💯🙏🏼

If you have a degree and a job, why would you take the A+? Why not just do a quick review and jump on the CCNA?

Haha thanks for the compliment. It's all natural, I just tried to get halfway decent equipment for my audio (it's in the description). I also use noise gate and audio compression filters to keep the sound evened out, but my voice is just me talking normally 😂. Thanks again

I’m so glad I’m coming across this video. I had a Tier I help desk job interview yesterday and totally bombed it on the technical questions even though I have a great amount of experience from being in the Navy just shy of 9yrs but as a computer operator not an actual IT. Needless to say I didn’t get the job, but I was just about to ask my job recruiter what I could do to build my basic IT experience when I saw this video on my KZread Home Screen and it’s basically answered my questions. Amazing video. I am trying to finish up my a+ currently. I just need the 1002 exam. I graduated with a BA in computer science back in 2003. I changed career paths and went to cooking school and worked in the hotel industry the past 17 years until the pandemic hit. Definitely agree with the whole small town thing I live in a country town with a population of 27,000 So even smaller than Walla Walla lol and yes I can attest that it is very hard to find jobs here for every occupation I’m definitely game for moving anywhere especially Seattle I’ve always wanted to go there

Highly recommend moving for work! Haha! But don’t move INTO Seattle itself, it sucks in there. Maybe Lynnwood, Shoreline, Everett, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell, or Edmonds 😂. Sounds exciting though!

Dang 5 certs, you are good to go. Make sure to check all your other bases (interview practice, physical presentation, job search radius, etc). Good luck! Getting that initial experience is very very important, so even if the salary is slightly lower, so keep that in mind! Good luck :)

I enjoyed using Linux over Windows in every lab scenario, with that in mind, what do you suggest I focus on to become knowledgeable enough to land a job? Are there entry level individuals that only use Linux in IT? Or do I still need to learn to use Windows/Powershell? I'm trying to narrow down an area of expertise just like your wife did with networking.

I would say you need to be proficient using both Windows and Linux. The Google IT Support Professional Certificate and the CompTIA A+ cover both Windows and Linux in-depth because you will encounter BOTH in an IT support environment.

As someone who’s trying to get a job as a data analyst- should I only keep the highly relevant data analyst certs on my resume? (I have 4 that are relevant) Or should I also include my google project management & google marketing / E-commerce cert?

Hello josh thank you so much for this wonderful video , I want to get into cyber security and I watched your video about cracking into cyber security and It was very useful but my question is , what to do if your country doesn’t have any company that hires pentesters, is there any place you know that hires pentesters or sponsors work visa so I can move somewhere ?

I've worked with computers my whole life and built my own. I probably know most of the A+ curriculum just offhand. Yet I still work a shitty dead end min-wage job. Really been thinking about getting into IT lately because working at fast food and grocery stores for years has really just ignited a rage in me like no other. The customers are rude as hell and disrespectful. At least as an IT help desk I'd be getting full time hours and some benefits. I know my worth and this isn't it.

I would start applying and make sure you have you resume written with ChatGPT , which is what I did. List all experience u have for IT even if it’s helping friends and family as the dedicated IT guy for them. List out your customer service experience as well , maybe list that your studying for you comptia A+ . I transition from Walmart to a really good entry level job with in the year bro so it’s very do able.

Thank you! Very informative video. However, what you say at around 16:00 about a small town (btw 34k people is not small at all where I’m from lol) makes me feel hopeless…the biggest town within a 2-hour radius is 10k people. Most of these small towns are 4K or less.😅

I would love it if you elaborated on the process of finding a good recruiter... or I guess getting found by a good recruiter. Iv been searching your videos. I would love some comments on remote or a video on remote working. For example: Someone like me who is very family oriented and recently forced to change careers. Is it likely to be able to land remote work being new to this industry? Do you always have to go into work or are there companies that only work remotely? Also, Iv watched your video on a day in the life. There are a lot of videos online but no one ever mentions time. How may hours do you normally work a day? Is it super stressful? I'll try to answer in-line: _Is it likely to be able to land remote work being new to this industry?_ I know one thing for sure, it's much more likely now than it was 4 years ago. As long as your Resume/Portfolio is looking good and you apply consistently, your chance aren't bad. _How may hours do you normally work a day? Is it super stressful?_ My job is a really strange job. It's a mixture of Cloud and Software Engineering. I honestly do about 4 hours of "labor" per day on this job and the stress is like a 2/10, maybe even 1/10. You will run into this a lot with Software Engineering at large companies that aren't Amazon, lol.. My Tech jobs were pretty similar, as long as you aren't doing consulting. Thank you so much for the kind words. I will definitely make a video on this. I added your comment and name to my list. I'm going to get a helper to help me with editing so I can put out more content, but I'm doing a lot of stuff right now so it's pretty hard haha. But yeah, seriously thank you :)

Hey, I just looked and I didn't see it has a retirement date. If it gets retired, 100% a new A+ will be created with updated curriculum. A+ is like, _THE_ main entry-level IT cert so they won't remove it completely :P. Most of the old resources will probably still be applicable--there is generally a decent amount of overlap. Hope this helps!

Am about to start a course course at a college soon. I want to start with comptia a+ however, there's a bundle course where you can do comptia n+ and cisco routing and switching all at once. My question is do you think it's advisable to study them all at once or is it too much?

Hey Milena, I really appreciate you commenting! The path in this video and the CourseCareers path is almost the same, but the CourseCareers path is a little bit more refined. You don't necessarily have to take the course, but just the idea of the "12 stats" and the things you should do when trying to get a job in IT will really help a lot. Hey Ayon, no need to get A+ if you plan to jump straight into Net+/Sec+. I believe jobs "requiring" A+ will make an exception if you have N/S, though maybe you won't be applying to those anyway :). Good luck!
