I wish YT was around in my High school days , if you a teenager trying to achieve this in life go for it, he just gave you the blue print.
This shows how talented F1 engineers have to be and how adaptive too! You're an engineer and yet your editing is like that of professionals
I mean, you don’t have do something engineer or science related, what about something like Logistics? Every team needs it, and it’s a vital part of f1 in general
I love this content! I went into Aeronautical Engineering because I wanted to work in F1. That has always been my dream. I researched what Adrian Newey had studied and it said Aeronautical Engineering and my city had a program and a lot of my friends from high school wanted to study that. It really was a no brainer at that time. Sadly, my university was going through a really bad patch and the Aeronautical Engineering program was changed mid way through my time there, which meant that I never actually had any of the classes that had made me want to study aeronautical engineering. The problems in my university were so tough that I went into a strong depression and wanted to quit studying altogether. A lot of my friends actually quitted. I was left basically alone trying to overcome a huge challenge, but thankfully the academic material was really easy for me. I even had to go out of my way and asked theoretical math professors at other universities if I could sit on their classes so that I could learn some of the stuff that I was missing, which went well, until the other students began getting mad at me because I was outperforming them, so I left since I wasn't supposed to be in there anyways. After a lot of pain, I completed my degree and immediately decided to never actually work in engineering, as I was completely burned by my awful experience at school. But to this day I love racing and F1, and still dream of working in racing/motorsports. I am set to get a job on the automotive sector, and I am focused on finding a way to be hired at a motorsports division within the next 5 - 10 years.
THANK YOU I'm still in hs and I was wondering exactly what to study and this helped so much THANK YOU
This really helps. Thanks mate
Hey Blake - video idea for you. With F1 testing ongoing right now, could you take us through some of the test programs typically run with a brand new car? How is the data used to develop new solutions?

Honestly dude. I have this video recorded I just don't like it and haven't finished editing it. Thanks for the nudge, I'll finish it even if it's NOT great.
Bro , u live my dream job/career and u quit it . Anyway I gradued from high school last summer ( major of Physics and Chemistry , with a high grade 17-17.5/20 ) and I wanted to study mechanical engineering but this major was not available in the uni in my country and I couldn't afford studying abroad even when I got 65-70 % scholarship , I'm good in math , physics , chemistry , English and I've got some other softs skills but in the end what can I say is that I'm an unlucky guy , I am studying now at a university that trains future teachers , so yeah after 3-5 years I'll be a science or physics and chemistry teacher that's not what I want but I have nothing to do , the financial problems killed me .
So cool that you went to UTA. I'm 32 in Dallas and starting the long road down Mech. Eng. as a career change.
I’m going to have to watch all your videos I love a good chart to see how everyone is going in the championship and the first hand knowledge of every detail is just amazing.
I am currently pretty involved with a Formula Student team, and I am also in my 3rd year of my automotive Engineering degree. I currently specialize in vehicle electronics and control. What can I do to heighten my chances of working in motorsport or f1? I do already have decent experience with MATLAB and simulink
This is really Inspireing I will work hard for this
this helps a lot! thanks a lot

Sounds like you're on the right track honestly man. If your CV came across my desk and I saw this, I'd be looking forward to asking you questions. Make sure your CV has this stuff clearly up front in your CV and you'll get a call back at some point down the road - EZ.
Lets goo now ik what to study, i can't wait to try my best to get my dream job
I’ll just be the photographer
Can’t wait! I’m on the UT Dallas FSAE team .I do vehicle dynamics and want to be a trackside engineer or a VD engineer so bad! I’ve learned so much and still have tons to go. -do you think a masters in Motorsport is critical to get a job in racing especially f1? -What sources do you recommend to get a better edge than other applicants? Things such as books or something you didn’t learn in FSAE? I’m reading the Millikan book and similar books currently and plan on learning adams and optimum lap.
@brrrake
2 жыл бұрын
A masters in motorsport is not necessary - if you did some good project as a masters thesis on automotive or motorsport topic, this would be better IMO, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Milliken is OK but kind of useless without an application. Gillespie's book is a bit more practical. Rather than learning ADAMS, I'd suggest writing your own code in Matlab if you want to do a lapsim. I don't think any F1 teams use ADAMS. I did my entire masters thesis project in Adams and in hindsight, I wish I would have just spent the time writing a more simple (but more useful) lapsim in Adams.
Ah FSAE, good times.

Graduated from Oxford Brookes too. LLB Law Bachelors
Thanks so much
I am more interested in be part of IMSA rather than F1 but this would still probably help thx
Thank you for this video 🙏. I’m in 8th grade and have been really thinking about getting a job in F1. When it comes to college though, what path would you recommend taking? Like going to uni in America then going to uni in Britain, going to uni in America and getting your credentials translated, or try to get accepted into studying abroad in the UK.
Is there any commerce side to f1 that we you could maybe give an insight on that be really cool
I'm studying data analysis, do you think this could be useful for a career in F1?
Are there jobs for computer science graduates? I like motorsports but I want to study CS.
@brrrake

Absolutely. Most teams develop their own software and tools. Vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and many other aspects of the team need computer science majors and software engineers!
i dont care if i make it far or not i just wanna work on cars either as a local mechanic or fully blown engineer i’d take both
They got rid of formula SAE my freshman year of college - I lost all desire to continue as a ME major.

Hey! I did bachelors in civil engineering and I'm trying to do my graduate studies. Based on my civil engineering background, what course should i study to get into f1 career?
What about a driver or pit crew??
I was wondering what course path would you suggest to someone with a Bachelors in Metallurgy and Materials Science ?

There are some specialists within teams, but usually for this type of expert, you would work for a supplier that sold material to a team. I cannot think of many that I've met with this background. That doesn't mean it's not possible!

What does a fresh computer engineering graduate need to do to get a job in F1?
Im curerntly studying mechanical engineering bsc in germany at RWTH Aachen. I cant quite get involved in formula student, even though my unis team is really good, sponsored by porsche and VW because I dont have enough time to study and commit to FS. When I was younger I used to kart professionally, but I had to stop due to financial reasons. My main goal is to work in motorsports as a race engineer, and hopefully one day get back into racing as a driver. I dont know what to do after bachelors though, should I work in a motorsports team for a while as an apprentice? Or go nto motorsport engineering at oxford brooked like many before have done?

Working as an apprentice and gaining practical experience is an excellent start. Also, a masters degree in Motorsport is an excellent opportunity to help gain skills and insight into that as a career.

If ur doing econ, (guessing it’s a good uni) f1 teams aren’t going to pay what you want. You’d only really be qualified for finance and compared to finance in companies pay would be slim
I think people misunderstand that the engineers who work for F1 teams are also top of their class. So I mean...not for the normal majority. I wouldn't consider it a "career choice" fellas, just being realistic. Don't ignore your own dreams, obviously, but yeah.
Easier ways than uni to get into f1

I'm Working at Sauber and in our team you don't need to go to university to be a mechanic. Being a cars mechanic in any garage does the trick (needless to say, you need to be a good mechanic, as the competition is high as well)... all in the pits working on the car are pit mechanics, so you're working easily 16 hours a day (sometimes even more). The best is to go to your favorite teams website and look what jobs are available, for most you'll need a college degree, but some exist without this need. I made an apprentenceship as an electrician and I'm working in the factory at the windtunnel.
