Hi, How are you? I have some inquiries about the Cambridge GCE A-Level Pearson International advanced level exam, in which I need a minimum of 7 points for 3 A-Level subjects to get admission to the pharmacy course at one of top university in Australia where I currently study Certificate IV in accounting and I am an international student from South Korea. My question is today, where can I get this exam and How to prepare? I was told by Cambridge Assessment International Education that I can get in touch with Pearson International team in Australia directly for my enquiries. But, It is tremendously difficult to get in touch with them. Could you please help me to find out this exam?

How would you suggest to prepare for A Level Accounting as someone who did not have O level Accounting and does not have any experience in Accounting Subject?
@jamesoen

Hi Riz Khan! Are you in your AS Level year? Back then, I did not took IGCSE Accounting and started learning Accounting for AS & A Level too. If you're learning A Level and you can still follow the lessons well, then there's no worries at all. You can learn and prepare like all the other students. But if you find it challenging to understand the concepts, them you might either spend more time to really understand the A Level topics or you can also take a step back to practice similar/same topics but start with IGCSE or O Level questions to make it less overwhelming. (You can consider practicing the A Level text book questions too) Getting help from teachers and friends can also help a lot when you struggle with some topics.

@@jamesoen Thank you for the helpful advice, yes I am in my AS year and have till April to prepare; but unfortunately the online classes have been especially detrimental to my ability to get a good grasp on accounting in terms of solving question papers. After a lot of time spent learning the concepts and theory, whenever I open a past paper to practice I find myself completely lost and lack even the slightest idea of how to even know which tables and concepts the question is looking for. Therefore, every mark scheme looks to be a guessing game and I feel like there was no way I could have figured it out on my own. Do you have any insights as to how I can understand how to approach the questions from Paper 2?
@jamesoen
2 жыл бұрын
@@outspoken_rizz If you're completely lost when doing the past paper, then I would suggest taking a step back, and leave the past papers aside first. You might need to relearn the topics from the basics again. Is it possible to find a tutor? I think it would really help you since you might need to catch up on the basic concepts and understanding first. A tutor, or maybe a friend that can teach you, will speed up the process. Other ways might be to read & understand your textbook, then do the textbook practice questions. Online resources like videos explaining the topics or notes might be useful too.

you probably find most tips on the video already, but I would say to focus on mastering each topic from now, so that when it's a month away, you're able to do past papers very well and could just focus on final bits and pieces you need to perfect
Hey i have exactly 2 months until my exams on 17th oct. Business studies Alevels, im giving composite, As and alevels syllabus of business and no other subject. Do i have enough time to complete the business As ans alevels syllabus in under 2 months and get A grade
@jamesoen
Жыл бұрын
Hi Jazim! It would be challenging to say yes or no as it totally depends on each person, such as their current level of understanding, learning speed, etc. However, I would say 2 months is ample time to improve significantly as long as you learn consistently and go the extra mile! All the best!
Hello Jamie,i have only a year to undergo my a level exams, and I'm very bad in accounting right now, and the controversy is that i really wanna get good grades in accounting What do you suggest me bro?
@jamesoen
Жыл бұрын
Hey Colas, I would probably recommend to understand the concepts and then grind the past papers. If you have a teacher, get their support in helping you learn the contents! A huge improvement can happen in a year if you dedicate enough effort consistently! Good luck for your studies, Colas!
Thanks! Doing the exams in around 2 weeks 😅....congrats for your achievement....fingers crossed for me 😅

Hi there! Four months is not long, but it is still a decent amount of time to catch up, and has a very steep learning curve towards your exam. In other words, don't lose hope! I would suggest checking the syllabus topic by topic since you haven't touched the syllabus yet. Check each topic in the syllabus and if you don't understand, review your textbook, ask your school teacher, or search online for some tutorials. Then maximize practising the past papers. Remember, 4 months is a decent amount of time to revise and fill the knowledge gap!
Hello Jamie, may I ask do you take notes for accounting for every chapters? Or how do you take notes for accounting? Because I really have no idea of how to make notes for accounting…😢😢🥺
@jamesoen
Жыл бұрын
I would suggest taking notes more for the theoretical chapters or questions such as computerised accounting systems. For the calculations, I would take notes so that I could do the questions later on or probably just do practise questions to understand them. Hope it helps, Gina!

@@pinkfluffyunicornsdancingo3683 For exams with many Essays like English/Business Studies, I feel getting teacher feedback is crucial. If you finished learning about the topics in school, maybe the best way to prepare & improve might be jumping to writing down the essay then asking your teacher to check it and get to know what to improve next time. Keep repeating the process until you get your target score in your practices or even try to maximize the possible marks from the question. For Maths, the answers are more fixed. We can know if we get the right or wrong answer, and whether we are able to provide the working/understand where the final answer comes from. Therefore, we can assess whether it is possible to achieve an A* or not from our previous practices. Have you watched my video on Maths for A level? I think it can be useful for those in IGCSE too.

Hey, can you please tell me if it is easier to get marks in accounting better or business??
@jamesoen
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Syeda! Emm it's a challenging question and I wouldn't say one is easier than the other. It's different in my opinion and if we know how to tackle each question for the different subjects, it would be less challenging. For example, for accounting you might want to show working and calculations in the balance sheet to get full marks. In business studies, you might want to include specific sentences to tackle analysis/evalustiln marks to maximize it. Getting to know each test paper well will benefit greatly!
