How to Get a Great Linux Laptop at a Perfect Price - Lenovo ThinkPad Without a Pre-installed OS

Ғылым және технология

Today I am going to give you a quick guide on how to get a great Linux laptop at a perfect price. In my experience, Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are one of the least problematic laptop series with Linux, so I will focus on them. ThinkPads with AMD Ryzen CPUs sell for roughly $200 less than their Intel competitors while offering better performance. In addition, you can get a ThinkPad T or E series laptop without the pre-installed Windows, which will save you another $100. I used to recommend the T series above anything, but these days they offer very little over the E series.
Note: I would like to give future viewers a tip. Even though I use ThinkPad E595 as an example in this video, new ThinkPads with newer AMD Ryzen CPUs will be out nearly every year. For future laptop releases, you can apply the same technique that I will be demonstrating here and get the same sweet deals.

If E595 is not available, you can try the guide for E15 (which is the next generation of E595). Though availability is very scarce at the moment, so you might not get many configuration options. This guide will also work with non E/T series laptops, as well as future laptop releases. Edit: Here is the Linux compatibility table for Lenovo laptops: wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Laptop/Lenovo#E_series and www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/E14_hardware_tweaks

That's also a good option if they sell them below the Windows ones' prices. Last time I checked, both Ubuntu and Windows Home pre-installed models sold for the same price. If that has changed, then Linux pre-installed ones are good a good choice too.

Why Thinkpad? I never understand. Thinkpads seem fragile to me, especially newer ones, and are tougher to upgrade, requiring palmrest/keyboard removal. My Dell Latitude is so easy to upgrade, also has NO BIOS whitelisting issues.

Mostly historical reasons I would say. ThinkPads were legendary amongst tech people back in the days. It's legacy still ensues. Also, their price/perf. is very competitive so it still makes them a good contender.
