I’ve been stubbing out anderson plugs front and rear on my trucks forever. Makes jumping quick and easy, and that’s how I run heavy 12 volt to my dump trailer, and trailers with a winch. Makes all the difference. I’ve also stubbed anderson plugs on to several pieces of heavy gear we own that sits idle, and have batteries in inconvenient places, so I can take either the andersonanderson jumper, or half a set of anderson split jumpers to another vehicle.

Back in the early 00's at the parts store I worked at, we used to make custom jumper cables out of 00 gauge welding cable and extreme duty clamps. The mills we supplied used those to boost the industrial 24v equipment. This was kind of a throw back video for me, it was a video starting a diesel that lost it's prime that I first remember seeing you in action.

I’ve had a 972 cat loader primer go bad once. I removed the return line to the tank and pressurized the tank with air to prime it that way to get it to start.

Used to have a nice set of cables my dad made out of welding cable, they were 35' long. I jumped a lot of cars trucks didn't matter how they were parked. Long as I could get close. Someone stole them out of my truck, need to make a new set.

Fuel sender on my truck has gotten unreliable when the fuel gets low, I try not to get below 1/4 tank. Pushed it a few months back and was on the way to the station when it just ran out of fuel. Managed to coast it to a good stopping point and did the 2 mile walk of shame to the station to get a few gallons of diesel. Was expecting a fight to get it started from all the various diesel out of fuel stories and videos I've seen. But I just treated it like I'd just changed the fuel filter, did a few key on / off cycles to let the pump circulate the fuel, heard air the first two cycles and then almost none after the fourth, so gave it a crank...fired right up, sputtered just briefly and drove straight to the station to get a full tank. Aside from the walking it was a rather uneventful experience....thankfully. Absolutely no plans to repeat that experience anytime soon.

I guess it all depends on what Diesel your working on . On my old VW I just undone the banjo fuel line on the pump and fill the pump with diesel fuel keep feeding the lump till she clears the air out . Saves the battery from to much cranking .

I have a GM service manual for my old 6.2. In the FAQs They state that gasoline will not harm a diesel because it will not burn in a diesel engine. A small amount will simply make the engine harder to start, larger amounts will prevent it from running completely. So it seems if GM is correct your gas on a rag trick is making the engine harder to start. I also had a GM tech tell me once to use WD 40 as it will start a diesel as easily as starting fluid while also keeping the upper cylinder walls lubricated.

@@StephenCox. it does. I hooked up a gauge to a plug on the oil rail on the passenger side. Showed 500psi on the first long crank and then I couldn't get to go any higher than 350psi on any attempt after that. It climbs up to 65% on IPR while cranking so it's demanding oil pressure but wouldn't it at least make an attempt to fire @ 500psi ? New batteries, all new sensors that cause no start, lots of fuel pressure, "minimum" starting oil psi at one point. I'm down to bad HPOP, Leaking injector O-ring, bad IDM or PCM????? It's been 15 years since I've owned a 7.3 and my diagnostic game is rusty! Hahahaha. Leaking injector O-ring

So far I have replaced ICP, IPR, Cam Sensor, fuel filter, and checked all fuses/relays, checked batteries. It will crank but not start. Did you figure out what was causing the problem?
