Hey Omg tahnks for sharing this video with us ! im currently at a grade 6 and want to achieve 8 in my maths GCSE. Is there something that you would strongley reccomend after doing maths geneie because i have completed the topic questions and the past PAPERS FROM 2018. I struugle to think differently in the exam. like apparently you are ment to look at the question from a differnt perspective to see what application fits the best and honestly im literally struggling with that. What would you reccomend ?

Honestly those are only for the absolute HARDEST questions (but my exam board was AQA so idk how it is for anything else) but if you've already done a lot of past papers then you've already went through many of those tricky questions and practice is the only way to learn how to overcome them and learn how to think differently. I guess deeply understanding a topic also helps so maybe watch more videos explaining topics you may already know - so that you can really understand the theory behind those topics and therefore be able to more easily think of ways to answer questions. Sorry if that doesn't really help

I'm an a level student 😅 so my notes are most likely in a ditch somewhere but I didn't spend a lot of time doing maths because most of my time was spent on other subjects. I only started seriously revising for it maybe 4 to 5 weeks before GCSEs and by then I was just doing past papers and looking over topic examples. Maybe an hour to 2 hours scattered around many weeks but I'm not exactly sure. Remember though that it's not about time spent but it's about what you do during your revision time. Doing practice questions or a past paper and then seeing and revising what you got wrong is much better than saying you "did" an hour or 2 of maths work. Hope this helps 🙂

How can I immediately recognise what topic a question Is asking me to do in the maths exam ?

I guess you could infer based on what its asking - if there's letters mixed with numbers its algebra. If there's anything mentioning probability, the topic is probability. If there's fractions, it may be the number topic. I'm not exactly sure what the topics are in GCSE maths specifications because it was a while ago when I did the exams but I don't remember it being too difficult to see what topic something was. Sorry if this is unhelpful

@@studyel2006 I mean for me I can identify the topics most of the time I just don’t really know how to approach is as I’ve learned the basics of a skill but don’t know how to apply it in the real exam

That just takes practice. Learning how to properly apply anything in the real exam just takes a lot of practice through past paper questions and practice questions.

Learning how to approach a question also takes practice but watching videos about those types of questions or that topic and getting help from your teacher can have the same effect

I believe if you put in the work you can definitely get to a four or maybe even better - you may surprise yourself with what you can achieve by doing simple things like adding a different tense or talking from a different perspective (e.g. my brother thinks ... He is very annoying)
