2 years later I am looking through the comments of this vid... march of this year I had 52 subs and grind now I have 952 subs so the grinds was fun

I'm hoping you'll cover the niche channels where the creator doesn't get in front of the camera and different ideas for how to do that for educational purposes- especially in a more budget-friendly way, and with some consideration that educators aren't always the most creative when it comes to style and thumbnails and titles. Thanks for all you do! Loving the analytics and hope they'll prove useful in a few months once I have more data!

10:39 Wise words! This is exactly what I am struggling with, being too emotionally attached to how the latest video perform and letting it affect the progress of newer projects. I've learnt not to rely on motivation when I am doing my crafts but uploading a video that doesn't do well is demoralizing, and it's something I've never thought I needed to deal with but I guess that's a whole new reality that I need to get used to. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and assuring newbies like me that it's possible to do well on KZread.

The helmet is awesome. Makes a lot of sense again. Its good to have return subscribers. Is commenting on a video that important. I like, sub, and comment on every video I watch. I thinking that will help all channels and get me exposed out there. Have a ton of comments with over 50,000 likes on other peoples channels. Has helped out a little, but not what I thought. I tried this for over a year. Got about 2200 people Im subscribed to, and got 600 subs myself. About to make a lot of changes in the right direction. Appreciate the advice and support. That helmet is really cool. Was fun to watch. Great video

Appreciate the tips! I found persistence the key as well. Often its just taking the time to keep grinding away and finding places to share your video content. My channel is no world beater (yet) but I found Facebook Groups and Reddit subgroups are full of people ready to watch your vids as long as they are presented respectfully and from the perspective of genuinely trying to help. Appreciate videos like this one, thanks again!

Doing the math and reviewing your analytics are key. With my first 10 videos and a couple months I was over 200 subscribers with around 7 hours of watch hours per day so doubling down would get me to over 14 hours of watch time or more looking at the analytics to create more content that has yielded the best results. This would be more than enough to get monetized in less than a year. Keep up the good content. 👊🏼

This is the way - I started doing live streams a month back and after the live stream, I took that video and cut it up into smaller segments to reload as videos for people interested in those monsters I covered from D&D during the live stream. It's really helped ramp up my watch time moving to 4k hours. Before the live stream, I got upwards of 150 hrs from Shorts and the occasional "podcast" episode (7-8 months). Now, I'm at 176 watch time (+26 hrs ~1 month) thanks to these more engaging longer videos AND I have a way to improve my "podcast" episodes as well. So I'm looking forward to the power of Shorts bringing in new subscribers AND improved watch time from the longer content for my return viewers. Needless to say, this has been a exciting and fascinating journey! 😁

I made a video 12 hours back on a trending topic. I've gained 420 views till now and it's my best performing vid out of my last 10.Even more impressive, it has a 19.6% CTR 😱

Great video, Rob! As my channel grows, I struggle a little with length of video to create. My avg video is about 4 minutes, but that certainly won't get me to 4,000 hours very quickly with a 55% retention. In your opinion would you create more 4- 6 minute videos or extend them to 8-12 minutes? I appreciate all of your help in the past 6 months!

I do agree it takes patients, I'm about 9 months into this channel and my channel started to excel the last 3 months. Averaging about 150-200 views a day, and now I'm excited to keep posting content and using the keywords I need and ranking more and more in search.

I’m about halfway there, & very proud of my progress so far! I guess my biggest concern (other than renaming my channel and niching down) is I might be spending too much time live streaming. On the one hand, it is giving a steady flow of public hours I didn’t see with shorts. On the other, 40 hour work week + 24 hours of streaming is pretty exhausting. And if I focus more on regular videos I could be seeing a regular flow of views instead of peaks & valleys. I hope the regular viewers understand! Also, “this is the way!”

I'm very grateful that my chosen niche was knitting and similar needle crafts (like crocheting). That is because thie choice of crafts will keep me busy and so I don't dwell on the numbers as much as other people do. At the same time regardless if I could monetize my channel ( including affiliate marketing) I can still sell things like baby blankets & scarves that I made while I patiently wait for my KZread metrics to grow with what content I already have out for my viewers. I'll keep doing as I have been: m4 creating an uploading at least six standard videos per month (with an equal number of shorts) and set them up so is to be released as one standard video and one short per week, and knit in the meantime!

I very much agree with this, an obstacle I have run into on my personal channel though is that the videos/topics that gain the most attention on my videos - that topic is old or no longer exists, so the interest in it is there, and there's things to speak on, around that topic but eventually as it's no longer around talking points for it will eventually run out.

Well it’s taken me 2years but I can confirm I got over 4000 watch hours. Like the video suggests it’s consistency and time that will get you there. I found a niche which has accelerated my viewing content. All I need now is my subs to grow more and I should be there. If I can do it with a full time job and health issues anyone can. Believe in your self. A bit of self advertising in your niche and you will do well

@@Wild-Siberia you got no problems then. It’s pretty easy to do. I gained my last 1000 in around a month. Once you got your niche subs and hours fly by. I recently done a a few videos which have done really well. Engaging with the audience, keep them on the toes etc all good ways to keep your audience coming back. To me my first 500 watch hours and 100 subs was my struggle.

Another great and helpful video. I released a video last week that tied in with what you was saying a few weeks ago in your 'under 1,000 subscribers, try this?' video. Having now watched this video, it has also showed me that my most watched and longest view durations are coming up with the same theme as the video I released for last week, which explains why my view time shot back up after it had declined the last couple of months (first time in a long time, up until then I had been consistently increasing). My actual longest watched video does not get that many views, would that possibly be because it is in a category where there is more competiton from other you tube channels?

If really "This is the way", then I've got a lot of videos to make. I'm glad you mentioned that Shorts don't factor in to watch time calculations. I was just thinking that I needed to make more. I only throw up 2 a week with 2 Regular Videos. Now I know I need to work on at least 3 Regular Videos to get my watch time up. Which in turn means that I need to set up more video shoots

I first thought, that ‚this is the way‘ might be the word, but then I realized that Rob was pointing to something: the subtitles. So I know now it was (plucky music) 🤓 I think I managed to confuse everybody here. But back to the topic. I have reached the 4K hours a while ago and I‘m really happy about that. And yes, I think Rob speaks truth. Patience and consistency is the secret. Now I‘m focusing on building a community not only viewers or subscribers. So if you have any tips about that, I‘m happy to listen carefully.

Hey Rob, I'm confused about one thing, I reckon you might be able to help. I've a KZread channel which I made about 10 years back when I was a kid and now it has about 250+ subs and 600+ hrs watch time with only 4 videos. And it regularly gets about 50-60 views daily without any promotion or SEO. Now I'm thinking of shifting totally to youtube and have made about 10-12 videos already. So should I post those videos on that old channel or start new from scratch. Old channel has few old cartoon episodes and songs and my new content is mostly mental health educational videos. So what do you think I should do ? Thank you ☺️
