How to Germinate Jackfruit Seeds

Survival Gardener Tees: www.aardvarktees.com/collections/the-survival-gardener
Today I share how to germinate jackfruit seeds. Jackfruit are a very productive tropical tree and a relative of mulberries, breadfruit and figs. Germinating jackfruit seeds isn't hard but you do need to start with fresh seed as the seeds will dry out and die quickly. Keep them fresh, plant, then wait. You can plant jackfruit seeds in pots, but direct-seeding jackfruit also works quite well. Jackfruit grow quickly and can bear in only a few years. So - grab yourself some jackfruit seeds and get planting!

If you're annoyed by the time it takes to fruit, then just remember- the sooner you get to growing, the sooner you'll have fruit.

I kept jackfruit seeds for 2 weeks, inside a container in a ventilated area, he is right with the root stuff, do not touch the roots because they have a crunchy consistency and break super easy, when transplanting try to take the whole piece of soil in it, you can keep the seedling inside home near a window, also the plant can survive in wet paper towel the first weeks once sprouted, NEVER KEEP MULTIPLE SEEDS TOGETHER THEY WILL GET ALL TANGLED AND BREAK THEIR ROOTS IF YOU TRY TO SEPARATE THEM. Hope this info helps this was my experience with jackfruit seeds, you can germinate the seeds inside a sealed ziploc bag with kitchen paper towel and put the bag in a dark area near something that produces heat

I planted one about 20 foot from my septic tank not thinking it would get so large. Its about 4 years old and just started to fruit. Now I'm wondering if its dangerous to my septic tank? Should I remove it? Ty

That's what I have found to be the key to germinating tree seeds, especially tropical, it's all about planting them right away when they are fresh! Composted wood chips seems to be a really good medium to germinate in as well. Cheers!

While living in the Philippines I noticed people planted fresh jack fruit seeds. Living not in North America we just bought a fruit at the Asian store. I thought why not sprout a couple in a large pot, ha ha ha. as summer is starting. Real good video as you support planting fresh seeds.

hi, sorry i did not see your vid earlier. I have three seeds that I put half way in water, like they use to grow avocado tree from seed. They have developed good, but once i put two of them in a pot with some soil mix I bought, they started to dry. The last one is still half way in water. What would you suggest? What would be best way to plant without stressing it and loosing that last seed I have.

Usually those that are more on the orange side (inside) not yellow taste better ,sweeter thicker flesh around the seed. Probably they are hybrids with cempedaks (I think). In Malaysia they call them "Madu nangka" or something like that.
