Both sides looked cracked and dirty. A bottle of iso and wipes work way better. Also, no cut management. Safety should be first. A fiber in the eye or digestive tract or lungs would not be fun.

how is this machine used in the field when the conditiond do not allow for s nice flat clean table to work on or proper lighting and actual room to work in. I can br in a ceiling in s very tight space, with very minimal work space.

If you need extra lighting you can use a cheap LED headlamp. Regarding using the fusion splicer in ceilings, industry provides convenient solutions such as universal ladder platforms that you can attach to your portable foldable ladder. A quick search on Google will help you to find many providers for both solutions.

Your our cleaver is dull and the splicer is dirty. . You can see it in the magnification with the issues with the core. You either have dirt on the right fiber and it looks like the cleave is uneven. You also need to keep tension on the fiber until the heater is closed. You use the tensioned fiber to flip the lever on the right that closes the lid. Without tension the fiber can "S " bend inside the sleeve.
