For those wondering if this works when you are really stuck: yes, it does. I got stuck with one of our front wheel drives in deep deep snow and it was also an uphill where I was stuck, so put these on and got out of there pretty fine. So keep a set or two in your car and in snow emergencies you can use this.

My only concern here is... you never actually were stuck or lost traction. I appreciate you explaining and showing us but I wish we could see a real example where someone is stuck. Snow is drivable, ice is not...people drive in the snow up north all day long but nobody drives in the ice. Id like to see these in a real emergency situation. If anyone has any video footage of that, please send my way!

The video explanation is very good. I bought this renhotecic brand Tire chain not long ago. It is easy to install and has a good anti-skid effect. If you have troubles with your car, you can try it.

My professional opinion of nylon zip ties. Leads me to want to warn people don't keep these in your trunk in the hot summer time. Sunlight, o2, and heat causes the nylon to get brittle and crack. Any electrician or engineer that's had a couple year old zip ties knows they're weak AF.

  • @Johnny-vu7db

What was the temperature that day? They didn't work for me at -20C. They just get brittle and snap while trying to zip them on. It was very frustrating.

You can clearly see when car start moving and plastic grip not at the very bottom position - tire does not slip even without engaged plastic grips. Tire itself provide enough grip without strips. Theoreticaly tire should visibly slip between each of plastic strips but it does not.

So, you should not wait until you are stuck as I was in the last snowstorm in virginia. I had no traction and could not move. You would not be able to attach the tie to the bottom. I need to put them on prior to getting stuck in a lot of snow to ensure I don't get stuck. Drive a Hyundai Accent front wheel drive. Are they reusable or one time only? Thanks for video.

Update and edit to my own response. If you put the zip ties on the tires when stuck and accelerate your tires they will spin and may grab and go. Then, you can place the zip tie on the empty spoke on the tire. Thanks, just figured this out. I am going to get a couple sets of these.

Peter von Panda NOT single use. Flat. Head screw driver allows release. Just fold the length of zip tie back on itself at the tire. Ive got a set that’s been used on a couple of occasions, ready to go again this year, if needed. Make sure you remove them when going onto roads/terrain they aren’t needed on, as they will break up.

Peter spoke misinformation. Any zip tie can be opened and reused by manipulation of the plastic latch. The bigger the tie the easier to open. My concern is that nylon get brittle with heat and time. Buying a new set every couple years, and not storing in car in summer time might be wise.
