How To Fold Down The Backseat On a Ford F150 Extended Cab

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have been driving an F150 for what seems like forever. My current truck is also my tow behind for my RV. I have an idea to set up the F150 Extended Cab pickup as an over-lander type of rig. Something that can be used to reach camping areas that the motor home can not go.
With that in mind I am looking for extra storage space. I discovered that there is a great amount of storage behind the driver side rear seat but it is not normally accessible due to the unreachable latch installed by Ford. I spend several hours trying to figure out How To Fold Down The Backseat On a Ford F150
In this video I demonstrate how How To Fold Down The Backseat On a Ford F150 and how to reach and unlatch the hidden compartment I also show you how to install a simple wire pull for the latch in the F 150 back seat.
Come along with me as I show you How To Fold Down The Backseat On a Ford F150 Extended cab.

Thanks, Dude! I had gone to my dealership and they had no idea. So, followed your advice and after a few hours found the latch and the seat fell forward. I improvised a hook to open with a clothes hanger so I could open the seat again easily but also had to improvise a ‘pull’ to be able lock the latch from below because, for some reason, it wouldn’t engage to lock when pushed close on my 2019 f150 xlt SuperCab. Nonetheless, I am delighted to have sorted it and found a little extra storage space. Thanks for your work, Dude!

The info about the latch being INSIDE the two outer bracket rails is crucial to releasing the latch with a box-end wrench! Thanks for including that little tidbit! As far as extending the release pull, all I did was use bailing wire. I looped it over the latch pin, then twisted to form a loop around the pin. Then continued to twist the wire up towards the top of the seat. Then I used the original little strap Ford had on there and twisted the 2 ends around it to use as the finger pull. To keep it up and accessible I just ran a 6" strip of Velcro hook horizontally over the strap on that fuzzy material on the back of the seat. It keeps it there when you slam the seat back into position.

Dang but I do miss my '11 F350 that had a nice lever to release that back seat. Unfortunately that truck went down the road to Copart. The replacement is an F150 with the @#$% no latch handles. You have just saved my neighbors a bunch of strong language. Thanks😎👍 Just a quick update - got mine open as noted but forgot to say how. I have a very late build (September) 2019 F150 Super cab which actually seems to have some 2020 parts. There is a pull tab on the release pin which will not let you put a box end wrench over it. I made up a tool using a 10-12 inch piece of 1/8" round stock I had on hand, bent one end, about an inch long 90 degrees then bent the other end, about 2" also at 90* for a handle of sorts. I was able to slide the shorter end into that tab's loop. A quick yank and it came open. Right now I just have a piece of cord on that latch loop but when (IF?) it warms up, I'll do something better.

@@DudeRV I had a Nissan NV200 cargovan up til a few weeks ago and had used it informally for 6 years. I found a North Ridge Vee Tent box for the roof (factory roof rail mounts were great!) and all until my son hit a guard rail... now I am back to the drawing board with the F150 Supercab. I was a an auto supplier here (Princess Auto) and found two slide out cargo boxes (also by North Ridge) I will take out the double rear seat and mount one on that side (comes with a fridge slider) and the other will fit on the passenger side in front of the single seat. really hand since the drawers are 24" deep so I can bolt them in and then pull out the drawers when I need to access camping gear that I don't want in the back of the ford (unpacking and repacking)! They are discontinued so you may be able to pick some up... they have a full kitchen drawer that might work nice with the Transit and provide a support for a bed.

@@mfsolutions Stupid guardrails always jumping out infront of people! That is some great info! North Ridge is a retailer or manufacture? I just received an email saying that due to supply chain issues they have yet to start production on our van, but we are almost ready to put our house on the market and get on with the Barndo build.

@@DudeRV Here is there US website... looks like they distribute and brand/rebrand overland camping things like the kitchen and cargo drawers. They are not weight conscious so you have to be careful with the transit GVWR... I found for my Nissan NV200 steel undermount desk drawers were very light and great for a kitchen... I got mine for $10 at a used office supply store.

Those skills when employed properly result in things being broken and disassembled in an abrupt manner. Whereas most SQUIDS! have a specific set of skills that allow us to put the things that Yall abruptly disassemble back together. You break it we fix it while we transport you somewhere else to break it again!! I hope that clarifies things. P.S. there is no one I would rather be on liberty with than a damn Jarhead! What year is your truck because I’ve been trying on my f150 and I still haven’t been able to get it and I’m wondering if it’s a different year/model, mine is a 2011 XLT supercab? I feel like it should be roughly the same and your truck looks the same as mine, but I’m not sure?

I have been trying to find a way to get my back seat down for the last 5 years, no joke. I have bloodied my hand so many times trying to reach it behind on search of a mechanism of some kind. I have a 07 f150 lariat supercab. I am going to give this a shot for the 100th time. If anyone has any recommendations, please reply. Also, what will happen if I remove the factory sub box under the back seat? Will I lose all sound? I really hate that box being there..

Well that's kind of odd and crazy, why would they have not put some type of accessible handle? But who knows with automakers. My Silverado has a big tray under the seat and the bottom just flips up. Another thing with those is the cabin filter, we have nine of those F150's for service trucks, you have to rip trim off and remove the glove box every time to change it, well you know the plastic isn't gonna pop off but so many times without damaging it, why not make it accessible lol.

I just found your video after watching others for one hour and thought "ok this is the one, my problem is gone" ... Sadly, mine is probably a very limited model with the "We`re going to make you go crazy" release of backseat mechanism! I can`t even put a sheet of paper behind the seat. The only place that could have something go in from the top is blocked by a black plastic part. I tried moving this, prying this. Nothing works. It`s s 2010 with the same doors option.
