@@RanchFairy Mr. Fairy this may sound weird, but I'm the only black archer I know. You may wonder what the issue is. Well I live in a black neighborhood and none of the homies here know a thing about archery. I rely heavily on your experiments and conclusions. You've completely revolutionized the art. I now do my best to hang on your every word, rewinding parts of your videos many times. I love your work, but I shoot traditional. I get confused at times determining how many of your tips apply to recurves and longbows. For example after this video I'm not sure how to fletch my arrows after nock tuning considering I don't have to worry about cables. Not fault of your own of course I'm just new to arrow building. Yeah, fletching clearance is a thing. Not realizing that my vanes were bouncing off of EVERYTHING due to me replacing the delrin cable slide with a roller and having my center serving slipping up my string (string failure!) with each shot was driving me batshit loco trying to zero my new sight. But it did show me that the weather extremes I deal with where I live leads to premature string wear. Hell, in a 3 month bowhunting season, I can go from t-shirt to parka in as little as a day. My new post-season routine includes getting a new string and cable for Xmas.

Here’s a kicker “Which way does the arrow bend (left, right, up, or down). at release in relation to the heavy side?” Would that hurt or help? Also Does the arrow rotate like a diesel cam in fight or is it consistent like a merry go round with one kid on it?

I shoot a crossbow so I'm in the same boat but this channel is amazingly helpful. It took a second to sink in but it's pretty straightforward. However the bolt sat on the rail against the string and it was nock tuned, that's how it has to sit with the cock vane in the rail. So mark it nock tuned and that mark has to ride the same exact way with the cock vane down after its fletched. After Ranch Fairy learns from the Wizard and teaches us, we can apply it to crossbow bolts. I love this stuff!!!

So it doesn't matter how the fletchings are orientated (I wanna have my cock vane on top of the nock tuned mark) as long as the nock tuning mark is facing up

I have no idea. What I do know - for a fact! My 65# bow with speed cams and 5” brace height DOES NOT NOCK TUNE The same as my elite Kure at 65# So I’m a fan of checking everything instead of shooting “ok” arrows.

@@RanchFairy I did some research and it is the same per say but you will still need to adjust the nock for fine tuning the arrow. I was just interested in how you felt about the two in comparison as some company's as advertising an add on fee for spine indexing your arrows for you when purchasing. This fee I would find unnecessary if I am going to nock tune anyways. I know I might ask some dumb questions but I am wanting to start a custom arrow archery business in my area and I am just wanting to absorb as much info as possible and provide a superior service. I have found from your research and my own that a lot of what I have been told over the years by the Pro Shops in my area has been a load of crap.

On a related note: You do know that, if your arrow blows completely through the deer and sticks in the ground you’ve wasted the energy. it’s energy that could’ve been used towards cutting, with a larger mechanical broadhead. Your arrow should just barely penetrate the other side of the deer, otherwise you’ve been wasting all the energy that the bow has stored and transferred to the Arrow.

Edward Alsup1971 if it opens up on time? Lol 😂 has The idea behind an arrow, is to cut the deer, to transfer the energy from the bowstring, to the cutting surface of the Broadhead. So that we can exsanguinate the deer. The larger the cutting surface area or diameter, the better. The arrow only need to have just enough energy to penetrate all the way through the deer. If you’re shooting arrows that are just blowing right through the deer no matter what angle you’re shooting you need to put a bigger Broadhead on or turn down your poundage. Because it’s just wasted energy. An accurate shot kills deer.
