    You don’t need steady hands. Just clip the toothpick to your cartridge with a binder clip and let it ride the groove like a stylus. Worked great for me. Repaired 4 skips on Hotel California.

    There's a scratch on my vinyl and it doesn't skip but you can hear a sort of click sound when it goes over the scratch. Would these methods work for something like that?

    Skipping from new means your stylus needs replacing . It’s not the record but the stylus

  • @IamNOTyourSLAVE

    Actually, skipping from new means stuff stuck in the grooves, what I do myself is simply get a soft fabric, like a T-shirt and wet it with water... then clean the record. You will find after drying it and then playing it,,, most if not all jumps are gone. If you still have jumps, clean the record on the exact song its skipping and try again to play it,,, skip may actually be gone, sometimes it can take a few more wipes,,, but does work lol

    That's a good start, would try another turntable first though. LPs aren't that fragile and even it leaves a mark its far better than a skipping record. Try to put some alcohol as well maybe it's just dirt what's making your record skip. And buy a decent record cleaner before you spend big money on a turntable.

    I don't know on the second one how your getting it to stay in place, the toothpick attached to the needle. When I did the way your doing it, the toothpick would slide off the record... but when I did both needle and toothpick equally, the needle kept grip of the vinyl while the toothpick did its job lol

    Recently got a free stevie wonder musiquarium 1 from a record shop. 2nd record has som e scratch small scuffs., and it was only 1 spot each side. The rest of 2 records once cleaned are pretty pristine..a good sign. Persisted. One scuff scratch caused a stuck stylus . So I buffed it with a microfibre cloth and record cleaning pro ject ..fluid quite firmly. Then did a cycle again on my cleaning machine . No stuck stylus any more. I will use my spare om10 stylus with increase to 2gram force when playing, ..but..no skip. I can still see scratches..but ..yeh.And also reduced the intensity of the other scratches. Yeh it's a freebie, but it's a keeper. Mind you, it cost 459$ for machine last year, before i got this, but I have 500 records.

  • @MrSidMan

    @MrSidMan

    3 жыл бұрын

    MP3 is compressed.... That is why analogue audio equipment is still very sought after... If a vinyl is virtually scratchless and played through a quality amp with preferably tube amps, and very good sounding speakers... It's really a treat. Some good recordings of vinyl on youtube (HD) can essentially capture that essence, but when it's actually playing in front of you, it's like having something tangible, vs enjoying it online via someone else's video.
