I cleaned the card with hand sanitizer, wiped it with an eyeglass cleaning cloth, and then used an ordinary nail file (emery board) to scuff the surface of the chip. Hi. Tried to use my Santander debit card yesterday in my local shop. She tried about 5 times but the terminal said "Remove Card". Tried again today in my local shop. This time she tried about 10 times on the terminal and also on the PayPoint Terminal but it wasn't having it. Phoned Santander today 19th July 2024 and they ordered me a new card. I tried your method by scuffing up the chip with a razor blade but no luck. Fortunately, the shop and ATM is next door to my house so it's very convenient. I tried your razor technique a few times in the ATM but the machine said remove card etc. Okay, so here is MY FIX. I used wirewool tonight. YES, WIRE WOOL and put my card in the ATM machine and it worked!! No liquid was used. Just a dry bunch of silver wirewool. It's a miracle! I would not have thought of using anything unless I saw your video here so thanks for making the video. I know from the comments that it helped a lot of people. However, if there is anyone out there where the razor technique does not work, just use dry wirewool and rub it across the card and BOBS YOUR UNCLE!! I hope my own technique helps someone out there in the future. 🙂

I used a Buck 110 and beer instead of a razor blade and alcohol, but it worked great. I knew it would because that chip started to look polished after a few light scrapes.

I have those lines going through my chip and now it won't read they're a little darker. I'm going to try your advice what are those lines just scuff marks from the chip reader

Haha look at all the people pushing their scams . Meanwhile Im involved in the Self credit improvement program. Been around ten years, backed by an actual company.

I don't know if this was the problem for my card. The replacement was free of charge but man they took their time sending it plus their stupid courier can't find my address and the card got sent back to their office 4 times.

Now I can buy wine 😀..back in the store I go 👌

@@sandimarielavati2354 I did it my self few days ago. I directly rub with blade until it shine like a gold. At first thought it won't work but then when I tried at the ATM and POS machine it running smoothly. I also add little white toothpaste while rubbing with blade to get those dark looking stain or dirts out.
