Great stuff!
Just been quoted £400 to get this fixed at a garage near me and they’ve told me my pedals and steering wheel needs to come out aswell after watching this I may check and try myself lol
I did this on my Tigra (exactly the same problem) and used the non setting gutter sealant. A couple of years later and it started leaking again, the sealant had dried out and cracked just like the original. Did the job again with Silicone this time and no problems 4 years since. I think the non setting sealant doesn't set if it's in a confined space like a gutter joint but as a bead on the surface it does dry out.

Hi sorry to ask but what glue did u use to hold it in place as I need to do mine
Don’t bother doing it from the engine bay. Just pull up the carpet and use salient in front of the foot pedals and push it into the cut out section of bulkhead. Saves you loads of time and you have the carpet up for drying. US a cord to hold up the carpet and air dry, with the doors open.

Haha nightmare. Wasn’t there a pollen filter over that side from m’emory?
This leaves out a lot of important detail for first timers. eg the sizes and types of fasteners, the order in which things are removed, the brake pedal clip, the interior panel that has to be removed. This is a video for people who have already done it. There are other vids on yt that are better.

@@Resto.Nation just re-edit and repost, slow down the time lapse, we 1st timers need to see all that you skipped over. The removal of the parts need to get access is confusing for a first timer: and tell us what we need (torx 20, 13 mm etc) - getting the brake pedal loose is a PITA. First timers don't know many "obvious" things- like its not obvious that you can just pull off the vacuum line. The mastic seals a large plate to the body. The plate is held on by 1/2 inch bolts (seriously, old imperial). Loosening the plate will permit better removal of old sealant and will permit new sealant to flow in the gap between the plate and the car body. After flowing new sealant, tightening the bolts up again should give a better seal rather than new sealant sitting on top of old in the gap. How do I know; I'm doing it right now for the first time and using YT to guide me.
That was really helpful, could you please fix mine.

Brilliant video, I’ve done everything in the strip down, I’m stuck on the fastening clip on the brake peddle. Is there a trick to getting it off? I don’t want to damage it as I can’t seem to to find replacements online :-/

Just gently prise it outwards with a screw driver until you can push it off of the clevis pin. It’s sprung steel so should be fine.
Behind the fuse box can get wet as well
Got to the point quickly 👍
It's still happening on the Corsa E too.
Would this be the same process for a Corsa C (53 plate)? I found that the back footwell behind driver was sodden the other day 😔

Almost brilliant! What would make it brilliant? Well, if you were to put up the original speed footage and narrate us through it. As one guy below said, how about just clearing behind the flaps and testing then. If there is no build-up the water will drain away -- even if the original sealant has gone to pot, is total crap, if there is no water building up there will be no leak. No? What does anyone think? Thank you.
@Resto.Nation

I agree. It’s a combination of factors that stem from blocked drains initially 👍🏻
@oCaptainKorma

I cleared the clutter out. And yes it drained better but the damage was already done hence the majority may drain away. However it’s still leaking in. Hence tomorrow got this to do 🙌🏽
Ahh the good old Corsa Comfort. Had one of them myself. Do you have the needles of death? Where your speedometer needles randomly die as you drive along?
@Resto.Nation

My mate did that had that car before me.
@Kev_Smith
4 жыл бұрын
Was a total pain in the arse. That coupled with the wet footwell were 2 major reasons we got rid of it. Driving along and the needles just dying would irritate the hell out of me. Drove all the way from mid Scotland to the North West one time with dead needles. Worse when you'd get them before the car started up. Absolute terrible design at the rear of the clock unit. Tried all sorts padding them out to give a better connection.
Thanks for the vid. I've got a 2007 corsa cdti 1.3 that mostly stays unused (should have sold it but eh) and I'm pretty sure there's leaks both because there's mould building up inside AND my ECU stopped working. I'm planning on trying to get the ECU cloned but I'd still have to deal with these leaks. How much do you charge for such a job these days, so I know what range I should expect.

You're welcome!
Yes you can fix the seal, but the real problem is the "secondary problem " The drains are blocked allowing water to pool and its escaping via that cover because of its poor seal. Cleaning the drains with a bottle brush takes 5 minutes and even pouring gallons of water down the gullies and screen results in a few drops getting inside. I've had worse condensation :) If the seals are that bad then of course do the job but try cleaning the drains first and see if thats enough.

blackestknights are you referring to the drains that I blocked earlier in the video? At the bottom with the flaps on?

@@Resto.Nation yep , mine were full of crud stopping water from exiting and pooling back to that seal. it's like if your kitchens getting flooded from your backdoor coz the drains blocked, it's not really the door thats a problem :)
Now to dry out the high density foam under the carpet! That will only take a week or 2
You can do the sealing form the inside also?
