As a guy with dreads for 11 years you should go to a shop and don’t combine them that way better off just twisting them and letting new growth lock naturally It takes more time but It would look fuller

@@triedntrueiam no ur's are different, with twisted locks they thin when the new growth is NOT twisted around the hard locked part, if the new growth is long and twists on itself ur hair thins, u want half new growth half old and u want the new twisted around the old hard growth bringing the old down to ur scalp again alowing the new and old to compress together (just like how new locks shrink and compress before they lock) if the new growth is to long the weight of the dreads will keep it from shrinking and compressing.

@@NumbaOneso I had an interlock back in December of last year and I have not done anything with my hair since. It’s coming to 8 months actually and I have a lot of new growth. The reason I waited so long was because my locs where just skinny so should I get a traditional retwist soon?
I feel like he should’ve never started separating them because they turned out to be to skinny at the root. Now he has to recombine them all because if he doesn’t over time they might fall off.
This method definitely works. I went from 95 to 80 locs. I combine this way all the time❤
Half of this comment section seems very... Rude. I feel like it was just a tutorial for how to work with dreads. It might not be the same way you would. It is how he does it. And no, I have never had dreads. But I am a decently nice person who personally would not like that people hating on me for something that they personally wouldn't do. I doubt he likes it either.

Been growing for 27 years on my second set. I combine thicker locs with skinny ones and french braid the roots tight and loose the rest of the way down..i repeat this for the weaker dreads every retwist or hair wash session and after about 2-3 months the skinny ones are full enough that i dont need to braid anymore. (Keeping the hair oiled and covered EVERY night) My hair was thinning because im aging. Even my edges were thinning. But with this method, my locs look fuller, healthier, growing consistently, and my edges are even filling out. Been growing since i was 17 im 46 now its definitely a lifestyle.

Don't interlock often. If you interlock once or twice, you'll be fine. It's the people that do it a lot. Locs aren't to be always pulled on and touched. This is a good technique. To combat thinning, you gotta' make sure your ROOTS are healthy. Stay up to date on loc maintenance and maintain healthy hydration of the hair follicles and a clean, moisturized scalp. Most people have the perception that dirt and oil create solid locs and that's false. Solid roots do.
I think they are skinny because aren’t for that hair type 😊 not trynna be mean but dreadlocks were specifically made for type 4 hair since it actually stays together.
