Anderson sent me new rollers for free! Gonna install them soon and your vid is a huge help. Thanks bro! UPDATE: I cleaned everything and replaced rollers, which didn't seem worn. Put door back on track and it slid smoothly. Screwed the retaining strip back on top and the door was sticking horribly again! Realized this is the actual problem. The retaining strip was mounted too tightly in the center area. For now, ive removed the 3 screws in that area, and it slides MUCH easier.

Thank you for this video; You saved me $700.. I contractor told me my door is not working because I have a settlement in the house, above my door, and he needs to fix that problem. After I watched your video, I followed the instructions and now it works as a new. Actually one of the wills was stuck; I cleaned it and then put a lot of W40. The will started moving, and then spinning like new! Thank very very much!, Eva Dimitrova

Thank you so much! I have an Anderson sliding door but didn't know it until watching this. I took the door off, replaced the rollers, and put on a track cover. More than you showed here but you got me started and now my door opens with a finger. I'm a 70 year old female fixer. Thank you for saying it was an Anderson door because it let me identify it for my local parts supplier.

Thanks for the video. A big help. Just one thing I hope you don't mind me mentioning. I have those exact sliders and you are correct, that is one heavy door. I would suggest locking the door like you would when it's closed, then removing the strip that holds it in up top. Especially when using a mini-helper. If that door starts to tilt toward your mini helper, there won't be any stopping it.

Thanks for the video. I am going to give it a try. The shade on the door got jammed I and it tilted the door slightly. I straightened it up but it is difficult to slide. I figured that the wheels are off the track. You and your helper are a great team. I'll have to get a neighbor to help. Might cost me a six pack but it will be worth it. I'll comment later on how it works out. Thanks again. HP

Many thanks for your helpful video! I was able to take down our Andersen sliding door that has been sticking, clean the rollers and the tracks, and reinstall it. The only thing I couldn't do was adjust the roller height because the adjustment slots are misaligned and/or stripped. Still, it slides much easier now!

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I tried lubricant and cleaning without taking the door out. Didn’t work. Was on my way to figure out the tool used to raise door and you said Allen wrench and that gave me the complete picture. Now maybe I can open the door without ruining my back. Good video and helper is cute, but lacks concentration 😂 much like adult helpers.

The “sand” your hearing is actually desiccant beads in the glass spacer between the glass. This is put in the spacer in the event of a seal failure to help prevent condensation in between the glass.

Hi doublewide6 - great video. I noticed we have the same sliding door and I'm having a problem with water leaking in around the edges of the track (during wind driven rain). I was wondering if you could help me out - do you happen to have any caulk on the outside along the edges of the track? I noticed these tracks/sills don't have any weep holes so where does that water go?. Have you ever had any water issues with your sliding door?

That sound isn’t sand in the door. It is the desiccant in the stainless steel spacer used to make the insulated glass. It is completely normal.

This is just a blinding glimpse of the obvious. And not worth the effort. "doublewide6" doesn't even know the trucks literally fall right out if you take out the adjusting screw. They you can soak them in cleaner and get the bearings perfectly clean and relubed correctly. But the problem is this fix lasts about four weeks and they are junk again. I am sure "doublewide6" is totally dissatisfied with his fix but didn't update the posting. Andersen has a problem with these bearings and they need to address it. They are too weak for the weight of the door.
