After much frustration, THIS ACTUALLY WORKED !!! At this point i am not sure the fix will stick around but i will see and report back.

Hey doityourselfstan, Thank you! and, Thank you! What I'm trying to say, is thank you so much for taking your time and effort to produce this excellent, easy to follow, video tutorial on resetting OpenOffice so that the spell check features work properly.

This worked! Thank you so much! I had tried all the other suggestions people gave about checking the language settings in Tools, etc, and none of those worked. But this fixed spell check!

I found these instructions easy to follow [I'm not at all high tech], but it didn't work for me. Reading your comment about the language settings in tools, I remembered what I had tried the other day. I re-clicked 'English' at the top, and it worked! So thank you for reminding me, and thank you stan for this video.

Now if I could get the in-program dictionary to understand many regular, if older, words are actual words. Damn thing makes me think I'm misspelling stuff all the time.
