For my vulcan 900, my gears would somehow slip down(effectively Downshifting without foot touching lever, 5th down to 4th), and also had major issues finding neutral like you did too! This will help reinforce bravery with my mechanical paranoia. You're really awesome for the provided video!

Hi awesome video, hope you can help I have recently rebuilt a 88kx80 on the bench it had all gears (casing off) now back together in the bike I only have 1st neural & 2nd but when selecting those gears the selector is stiff up and down once in gear the selector dose not spring back up? Can anyone help me I have a 2008 KX450 I put brand new clutch cable brand new clutch and everything and it still did not fix my problem my problem is I can never get the bike back to neutral why it's running my cable is adjusted I have to use all the adjustment in my cable and it's still not working someone told me a shift shift can be the problem already changed clutch and cables not stretched out brand new cables and still have the problem annot find neutral until bike is turned off all gears shifts fine in my cable adjustments or maxed all the way out still cannot find neutral

Im having some shifting issues on my ninja 250r. Cant get into 3rd or higher. Pushing down after shifting up allows me to go to 3rd, 4th, 5th... It sat for a while after a crash at the track and might need to be worked back in. Anyway hope this info helps

@@jakedelloso9643 lmao you would think. I cleaned the surrounding area and changed my oil to no avail. Its either the return spring or the shaft is bent

@@piotrplewa1889 i fixed mine i actually took the clutch out for no reason. My left peg was too seized to let the spring push it back to center position. I took it off and greased it up

I had my chain fail and locked up the rear tire. I replaced the chain but it wouldn’t go into 3rd I drained the oil and seen no signs of damage like metal shavings but I checked today to see if by some miracle it fixed itself before the new clutch came in through the mail and I have all neutrals /:

The klr 650 has the same problem.its usually caused by a bent shift lever from repeatedly trying to force it into 6th gear.

I have this issue with my Cb125R but I can use th gear I just have to keep returning it to the normal position because it either sticks up or down at first it would fix its self and now its just constantly broken but like I say I just have to keep pressing the gear either up or down slightly to return it to numeral.

Got my son his scond bike rm 85 after couple of track days all was fine wen out the day hit a jump in 2nd r 3rd it seemed to slip into nuitrul got it going again after it felt like the shifter was stuck .managed to go again but wude only take first wen trying for scond nothing just felt stuck again any idears most likely be taking it to a shop just dont want them charging an arm and a leg 😅

Hey mate 👍 top vid... So my drama is this Got a Husqvarna WR250 2009 It had a leaking water oil pump seal but I rode it for a while until the seal came. Changed seal yesterday all good. Bike started let it idle for a bit... checked oil and no more water in in... Then I put it in 1st gear to ride into shed and it won't change out of 1st or even to neutral. Shaft moves down but won't move up ton2nd or neutral.

What could be the problem? For me, it falls out of the first gear, it shifts well towards higher speeds, but it will not shift to lower speeds, and it is very difficult to find a neutral when the engine is running.

I have the same problem and it was said this is the spring, because it doesn't come back to it's position you can't downshift. So that's why im watching this video😂

Where do I get the spring

the problem i have is changing gears is fine except going from 2nd to first, the gear shifter doesnt bounce back it stays down so i cant kick it into first. can anyone help with this?

I'm in the exact same position 😅 wish I knew more about this stuff. There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive video for beginners to work through this stuff from what I've seen so far (what exact tools to get, what goes where step by step etc.). I've a gn125 and I just want to be confident that nothing acts up when I'm on route somewhere

I can go from neutral to first and first to neutral but no second ? Could this be issue

my problem is the bike slips out of neutral into 1st ALL the time, even just pushing the bike without it on it will slip into neutral, i can barely get the bike to start without it slipping into 1st and then when it does even while holding the clutch in the bike starts to go like im holding the clutch half way in

Adjust your clutch lever cable. It won't stop it slipping in 1st but it'll stop it going with the clutch pulled in

@@richperkins5192 I removed the clutch cover and clutch basket from the bike. When I tried to put the bike in what I thought was neutral, it turned out to be a "false neutral." The shift star had turned a whole tooth over, making neutral between 2nd and 3rd gear instead of between 1st and 2nd. To fix this, I pushed the detent arm down and rotated the shift star into the correct position. You'll know where neutral is because there's a notch on one of the shift star's teeth. Neutral is at the notch, with 1st gear to the left and 2nd gear to the right. Before you start, make sure your bike is in 1st gear by pushing the shifter all the way down. Then, turn the shift star until 1st gear is on the left side of the notch. Let the detent arm back up, and you should be all set! If that doesn't work, you might need a new detent spring. Hope this helps! If not, we can exchange numbers, and I can walk you through the process on FaceTime.
