But what does this mean? In his IRL example you focus on a blade rather than look at the whole picture. In CS:GO or valor at you would focus on the head rather than looking at the player. But what about the apex example. What are you supposed to focus on? I don’t play apex so I don’t know, I’m just wondering

@@Embeed i know your problem, after i saw this video i trained to focus on the enemy only, im also a long time csgo player but in apex tracking is necessary. Its so much better than looking on your crosshair and shoot when a player ran into it. Imo you you need to train yourself and your eyes for trackin games cause its a different type of shooter. As i said, targeting the enemy only while shooting for tracking/apex and pinpoint accuracy for slowpace/flick shooter lile Val/csgo is the key! Its just different, apex is also sooo much faster and flicks are very unnecessary.
I actually recently started doing Kovaak's tracking mode and can confirm that focusing intently on the target is probably the most important thing. It was insane how much my tracking improved from that.

Only issue is that in my opinion the picture is never clear enough with all the effects and blurs and such to keep focused on a small moving character in a game. Especially in Apex. I have the classic 240hz zowie screen with DynAc but I just feel that the gfx + picture size + mivement ghosting etc is just too much. I would think that what matters is visual aids (simpler gfx, vibrance, low blacks..) and looking the monitor with your nose touching it would be the real things to improve this. But for the sake of my eyes, shoulders, neck.. I just can’t do that and have to accept the handicap in this…
That analogy with the fan was brilliant. It really puts things into perspective.
For the focusing target part, avoid "predicting" or trying to shoot in the future, actually focus on the target

You hit the nail on the head as far as looking at a target vs focusing. When I lose battles it’s because I’m just looking
If you have the time at some point. Would you consider making a video about yourself? I only knew a little bit and recently found out more about how you originally started playing fps games and then how the lack of effective aim training in games made you decide to create your aim trainer. I would be super interested in a csgo pro spotlight style "the story of (dont know your first name) kovaak" Or "The creation of kovaaks" I feel like a lot of people know of the aim trainer but the casual players or even some more frequent users font really know much about you. Also the insights you have on this channel are brilliant and deserve more recognition, plus they could really help a lot of people. If you dont have the time or dont want to create this kind of video, i want to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into advancing aim training and helping others out, we appreciate your efforts more than you know.
On the topic of focusing on the target, I recently found out how much having a high refresh rate monitor helps with that. I went from a bad 60hz monitor with heaps of ghosting to a rather nice 165hz monitor. It feels as if the targets are slowed down. This was especially apparent in faster more chaotic games. It makes it far easier to calculate your shots and overall just keep track of the situation.
@RurouniKenshinShinta

This. I spent almost my entire life playing on 60hz monitor and i can't express how vital a good monitor is. I might argue that its the most important part of FPS on the list of things you need like a mouse and keyboard. You can have the best peripherals in the world but whats the point if you can't see/track players consistently. For anyone who still uses a 60hz monitor.... seriously, save money and get a 144/165hz.
@theSato

@@RurouniKenshinShinta Monitor (and of course, the GPU/hardware to drive it) is by far the most important thing to spend extra on if you're wanting to "buy better skill" so to speak. A $30 keyboard is fine, a $30-40 mouse is fine, but a $150 monitor is not fine. (That said, making sure to get a mouse with a good sensor and extra thumb buttons to map abilities to definitely helps - putting frequently used things on mouse thumb buttons stops you from needing to remove your fingers from WASD and hinder your movement!)
I find a lot of time when I end up missing more, its because I'm busy looking at my crosshair and trying to make sure my aim is "good" rather than looking at the target and actually hitting my shots
Really big tip too is to de-tense. It will help you avoid exhaustion and produce more consistant results especially when perfected.
I just want to add warmup/stretching your arm and hand to the list. It made the difference for me. I spent hours and hours on aim training and gaming trying to fix jittery aim with no results. Just made it worse. I even lowered my sensitivity tremendously and switched to palmgrip wich helped a bit but took a huge toll on my playstyle. After I started to stretch before and every hour or two while gaming I realized how tense my arm and hand have been and now I'm actually going back to higher sensitivity and old grip and I'm confident I can improve and make progress.
My aim improved a lot once I heard about actually focusing on the target i always worried more qbout the reticle instead of mind muscle connection if that makes sense 👌
1:23 I can vouch for this ive always played on 270 degrees or less per mousepad swipe. Recently got back into FPS after almost 3 years, my aim got really bad and Ive not had to work on it this hard since I started FPS gaming.

Thank you for telling others to wash your hands and arms before playing. Not only does it get rid of that "humidity" feeling but it increases the life of your pad by a lot. However, your arm and hands can get dry quickly, so moisturize after playing 🙃
Just maybe a tip with the focus one. Focus on a specific spot of the enemy I normally focus around the neck. In kovaaks per example I will focus on the very top part of the cones. Also this is more of a personal thing when playing music while playing, I prefer listening to soft beats etc things that calm you down, makes me more consistent since im calmer. Ofc for the others the hype of some hard beats will help but in my opinion that hype doesnt last more than 5 minutes and the burn out hits faster.

yo that first tip is money. subbed, thank you.
on the topic of friction between forearm and mouse mat, I know it might sound ridiculous but for people that have some hair under their forearm, when you start playing regularly what ends up happening is that the hair starts breaking and gets shorter and ultimately it increases friction, a simple solution for that is just to shave the portion of your forearm that contacts with the mouse mat. Unless you're a total bear no one will notice lol :D

I feel like my awareness, reaction, and snap accuracy are generally really good. But I have a degenerative neurological disease where impulse conductivity between nerve endings degrades in the hands and feet. My feet are pretty much dead, but my hands are still good. One of the side-effects of the specific sub-type of the disease is shakiness, which has become worse in recent years. So the point of my info dump is to give a backdrop of my fine aiming issues DESPITE my decent abilities with everything else. I tend to get the first shot off in PvP on an opponent, but they tend to get the kill because my reticle is CONSTANTLY dancing ear to ear, causing shots to fly by just past either side of their head when trying to correct aim, hahaha. Frustrating as hell and I've yet to find settings to help minimize the effect. Everything's either too fast or too slow in the various combination of settings I've tried 😅
Wish I've seen this video sooner. My main problem was focus where I had this thing where I could only do so after smoking (more relaxed and less stress) or at least that's what I thought at the time. I've been actually focusing on my targets and whatever I had going on where I thought I could only play while high has been this all along. Sober gaming is the way.

Generally speaking the 'best' sensitivity for you will change depending on the aim requirements of the game you play. If the scenarios closely emulate the types of aiming you would do in your game of choice then it can be a great way to find a comfortable sensitivity. If the parallels aren't so clear you may want to experiment in the game you play and take that sens into KovaaKs to train. Each scenario will usually have a sensitivity range that performs the best on it, so choosing a sens purely based on score can be a bit misleading.

does kovaaks have a program to calibrate mouse settings and sens? like it records my gameplay and tells me if i need to lower in game sens because of shakiness or need to raise it to tracking faster?
when i track to the left my hands are fine, to the right though my hands start shaking like crazy
Realizing that I wasn't actually tracking with my EYES made a huge difference when I started doing it.
Idk I feel like I've been focusing on my target all this time? Its trying to track them when they are strafing that is the most difficult thing as that seems to always be the case for me.
My aim was jittery, I used Kovaaks, tracking training. I hated it at first, but it got easier to track. Since we're not WZ streaming pros, we actually have to practice to get guud.
I have a question that applies to all aim trainers, inside the aim trainer settings you can set the ads sens and the hip fire sens but everyone seems to do the various scenarios without aiming, so if the whole point is building muscle memory, we should aim? Or not? Or we should make the 1x ads sens in game equal to the hip fire sens?

I feel like maybe I’m doing more of the looking at than focussing, I’ve been doing eye exercises and in apex 1v1s I’ve been trying to follow the target to better read them, but after this I’m thinking that maybe I’m not actually focussing on them properly. The ceiling fan concept makes sense, so essentially I can still look around with my peripheral vision but still be able to read the target?
@calcomcolt
2 жыл бұрын
My take on your last paragraph is you're looking at the crosshair while using your peripheral vision for your target maybe? I stopped doing that because it made my eyes go blurry because I've been staring at my crosshair for many hours, and my monitor is just the right distance away from me. I follow the ceiling fan concept as if the blades are my targets, so in-game I point my crosshair to my target with feel. I don't know if you get this whole block of text, I don't either lol
@TheMeta

The idea is to focus on the target you are fighting, and allow your peripheral vision to absorb info about your surroundings and other potential opponents. The problem many people have is that instead of focusing on their target, they just 'look' at it, so you don't get that locked in feeling.

@@yallknowtheresnofear1199 warzone is a much much easier game than cs go, you can spray someone down 150 meters away while strafing with extreme accuracy, cs go is all about headshots and first shot accuracy usually, so you need to precisely be aiming at head height and be able to micro flick and all that. for that specifically, you want lower dpi and in cod people can be anywhere at any height, up or down or behind you. in cs, you pretty much will always be roughly aiming within a few monitor inches of where the enemy is going to be so a lower sens and dpi for easier linear movement is optimal.

Although this is a great video and all of the points are valid, it missed a CRUCIAL element: mouse grip. I've played pro CS 1.6 (last tournament literally 18 years ago) and recently I was trying to learn CSGO and play a bit. I was disappointed on how bad and shaky my aim was, and thought it was due to my, uh, "experienced" age. But no, I actually fixed it with a proper grip. Turns out that 18 years without playing a competitive fps and working on software made me default to a claw grip that did not give me nearly enough stability for playing a precise game like Counter-Strike. (For those interested I'm currently using a "hybrid claw/palm" grip, or "aggressive claw" grip which gives me a lot of stability and stopping power, plus it helps locking in horizontal axis which is very good for CS - but there's no "best" grip as it depends on your phisiology and choice of gear as well as the style of game you're playing)

Your best bet is to make it a habit. Find some good times to remind yourself, depending on the game this might be right before an engagement, or if you miss some shots in a high TTK game, or if you are waiting to respawn.
