For those of you ingrates who believe this will break your ps3 more it will not. One, the ps3 is already fucked. So not really helping your argument. This is a quick fix to get the disk out and deactivate the account for when you purchase a new ps3 or if you just send it in, you can still get your game out. Some people I know that have used this method all worked for them. Just the time on whether it will last varies. Hours, Days, Weeks Months. Some even a year or so. Don't knock it if it didn't work for you. You probably did it wrong. Plus DO NOT put your ps3 in the microwave. That is stupid. Also it helps if you still have the PS3 box to set the system in, or a sweater, you want your system to get hell hot, then let it cool. for triple the time you dried it for. I did mine for about 17 minutes and waited about an hour for it to cool. Works great and been working for about 8 months. I have the 80 gb fatboy, and I've also done it for a friend on a Superslim and he had his working for about 11 months now and still running like a champ. So just do what you got to do.

I got mine working by holding the power button for about a 1 min then switching the powered off while holding the power button and then switching it back on. I'll check back later but I have never gotten the yellow light so you all know just shutting down on it's own and solid red.

you show 7 minutes of a hair dryer blowing hot air, but not 3 seconds of powering it up to show that it worked?? .. Anyway, all these "tricks" do is further damage it by overheating the ad sensor. It's certainly not a fix.

This worked like a charm..I did take the cover off and vacuum out the years of built up dust...I highly recommend doing this as a first step. I wrapped it in a towel as the video shows and used the hairdryer for 15 minutes. I let it cool overnight and this morning i started without an issue. Thanks for the vid!!

Didn't work the first time for me but did it again with higher setting on the hair dryer and for 1/2 hour with PS3 wrapped in a towel. It worked the second time and still going strong. Transferred all my data to a new PS3 over the weekend.

This shit worked for me 6 months ago and my fucking PS3 betrayed me again, I'll do it again and hopefully it lasts me for the next 6 months.

Wow actually worked now I have 2 good PS3's. Thanks. 15min on low and 5 on high for blow dryer worked great. Like new again.

It's not a permanent fix. It's for people that want to transfer data from their hdd to a new one so it isn't lost. Every time you put a hdd into a PS3 that isn't the original it will ask to format that drive. So if you have special files on there, say Mass Effect save files, they will be lost forever. It's also a good way to get any stuck discs in the disc drive out. Although it's a lot simpler to run the PS3 diagnose to do that by holding the eject button down when you first turn the system on.

Worked for me...I had to do it 3 times, but it worked. I followed your thing with covering it with a blanket too...got my Uncharted 2 disc out. Finally I can stop playing my boring Xbox and get back to some good games..

The heat trick usually will work, the red light of death is usually something cracked in the ps3 which is where the heat trick comes in. you heat the ps3 so that the metal expands closing up the crack and once the ps3 is running it should keep it self hot enough to keep the crack closed. TAKE NOTE yes this trick works and is an easy fix but continued use will cause the metal to expand and contract each time you do it probably making the crack bigger till you cant expand the metal enough to work
