These are great tips, however, there is one more thing I would add. If you have your footage on a HDD (Hard Drive) instead of an SSD (Solid State Drive) your footage is going to be much more choppy, regardless of what kind of other specs you are running. For example, I have a 5400RPM 8TB HDD that I use for all of my footage. When I scrub through the timeline, it is slow because there is a disc in the drive that has to physically spin through all 8TB of footage to find the exact spot where I'm at in my recording. I moved my footage to my 240gb SSD which is also my C: drive, (it has Premiere and Windows on it) which isn't ideal because it is already doing stuff in the background, but SSDs are so significantly faster than any spinning disk Hard Drive. If none of the solutions in this video solved your problem, I recommend either getting and External SSD, or one you put directly in your PC and making sure that your footage is on the SSD.

hi, my specs is ryzen 5 5600 videocard asrock RX 6600 8gb and a 32gb RAM is this enough to smooth the playback on editing in premiere pro??

@@MasterJeret Yeah you’ll be fine. The only concerning part of your specs is the video card. Premiere Pro prefers NVIDIA Geforce graphics cards for playback. I own a Radeon 7900xtx and even that is a little slow at playback. You can definitely still do some good edits on your PC.

@@MasterJeret Yeah no problem, I actually was editing last night and the playback on premiere was so choppy that i couldn’t even play back at 1/8th resolution. Its a damn shame because i literally spent $1000 on a gpu that can’t use Premiere. Playback in Vegas Pro 17 was fine for whatever reason.

POOR PLAYBACK PERFORMANCE IN MACINTOSH M2 STUDIO OR MAC PRO WITH MULTIPLE MONITORS Issue: A customer with a Macintosh M2 Studio or Mac Pro with multiple monitors may experience poor playback performance. Workaround: Enable Displays have separate Spaces in macOS System Settings > Desktop & Dock. Apple and Adobe are working on a permanent fix for this issue.

So i have a project with lots of layers and nesting and its simply impossible to edit as it is lagging as shit , i rendered the whole project which took 2hrs approx and still no fix , any thing that works?

Hey there, if the methods presented in the vid don’t fix your problem I think that your PC might just be not enough. DaVinci Resolve is better optimised, but you won’t be switching because of a single project. Can you send me your PC specs (RAM, GPU, CPU) maybe there is an obvious bottleneck in your machine and you can prevent this from happening in the future…?

@@MainlyEditing_ I mean my pc specs are pretty decent that shouldn't be the problem , the processor is ryzen 5 4600H with a Gtx 1660ti and 16 GB of RAM . I haven't rendered the nested segment separately i will try to do that , but still if it doesn't work ig i will have to export it fully and then edit it

@@RazorNub Yeah your PC specs are pretty decent for Premiere. Just like you said try out rendering out the nests or using proxies if you're editing footage higher than 2K.

this actually made my computer super laggy, adobe still lagged xD My comp just sucks

Oops, I think you might have set the Adobe's RAM usage too high. Make sure to leave at least 4GB of RAM left for the computer to use.

I feel like Nvidia launches a new update every week

Really enjoyed the part with the GPU settings. One thing though. - Have gone through several videos, and I do not have the memory option "Optimize rendering for:" and there it's just nothing for me. Got very good specs overall so I cannot see why it wouldn't show up, unless it's a setting that I've missed :p Cheers!

When you answered anyway, you got any ideas/tips of why it lags for me when I’m doing the ”follow object” thing with a picture, for example? I’ve got a ”thumb up” which I use to follow an moving object in the video and every time I’m dragging it, it takes a few seconds for the thumb to start moving and it doesn’t move smoothly either, lags like hell.. So annoying.. :/

The only guys remember us gpu setting🙂

3:43 I do not have that option to optimize rendering for performance…. I am on a PC. Please help.
