When you apply painters tape, if you get it wet after and then wipe dry. It will stick better. -from a cabinetry maker

I did these steps with my daughter's Cruze and it came out nice. I put a coat of wax ontop of the lens to protect it.

Take a shot every time he says "guys"

So what if the headlight simply has small surface scratches that aren’t deep can one starting out by using the 1500 sand paper and 2000 since they don’t have much grit?

Don't we have to use some kind of sealer or if protectant? (Or is that what the solution from chemical guys does?)

Meguiar's G17804 Keep Clear Headlight Coating

After the last polish, If you don’t coat it with something permanent to protect from UV it will quickly turn yellow and start to get cloudy. The job isn’t done !

Needs a UV coating or it will get cloudy very quickly.

I needed to pull my headlight apart last night as the chrome ring has detached inside the unit...seen all the videos of baking them to remove the sealer real quick and thought 'Yeah Nah'..Ill use throttle body cleaner which clearly says 'Removed GUM'...let me tell you something...I was put on this Earth to do stupid sh!t and serve as a warning for others...I cant even go to the toilet as I literally CANNOT remove the sticky crap from my fingers and anything I touch clings to my hands like a magnet...the throttle body cleaner worked great removing the gum, but reacted with the plastic and I ended up with a 2mm thick hard coating on the front of my headlight that resembles the surface of the moon (Ive been sanding it with 60 grit sandpaper for the last 2 hours and it is only just coming off). Ill take your pitted headlight anyday GUYS. ;)

I burnt the plastic on mine. But i never sanded it. I clean it and tried to puff it. Can it still be fix?

Nope

Buffing making it weaker and It will get chipped worse in no time. Just spray quality some 2k clear coat.

Guys

The finish on this lens is terrible. Lens is not clear at all and you can clearly see sanding marks and rotary polisher swirls. You are obviously using way too large of a tool on such small and intricate surface and doing it with a dry polishing pad. Steps are pretty much correct but technique and tools are sub par, and finish is reflected in this.
