I have my pc connected to my tv but i get a message stating that the audio device is not plugged in. tv sound does work but as soon as i connect to pc sound is gone and i get not plugged in displayed under the sound playback tab you showed in the video

After the Windows 10, 1903 update I got a terrible static when opening the sound settings (from the windows 10 interface). Because of your video I tried setting the Default format tot CD quality (16 bit), and it finally fixed the problem. Thanks!

Thanks a million for taking the time to reply to my comment! Before I saw it, I used your tip's principle and undid and did again the things you have mentioned but as noting happened. I kept looking and found the sources and the sound programs separately and undid and did them again. Then the computer asked me to restart twice. Then I had sound. So, I thought you helped me and when I started writing my Thank you note, I saw your second advice. Good to have people like you around!

Dude thank you. My PC keeps doing this for some reason after an update. You saved me from stress.

The fix for me was to unplug my headphones and plug them back in. I know too simple but try that first, either speakers or headphones. Major updates always seem to mess up the sound for me.

I also tried what you comment states but did not work . what I did was I unplugged my keyboard and plugged it into the usb port the head set was plugged into and the keyboard still worked. I then plugged in the head set into the usb the keyboard was originally plugged into and now I have sound. The key board still works. now I am really confused

After the KB4517211 update (september 2019) the sounds are really low. There is a way to fix that? When I uninstalled the update the sounds back to normal.

FINALLY A SOLUTION THAT WORKS! thank you :D

Here is, in my opinion, the best solution for no sound after win 10 upgrade: Provided the hardware configuration in Device Manager is working properly with no exclamation mark, then execute this steps in sequence, meaning progressively one after the other: Open Control Panel>Sound>Speakers=Enabled ( must have a visible tick inside the green dot)>Properties>Advanced>Exclusive mode> Disable/Untick the option=Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device>Select the best settings on the "default format" option (24 bit 192000 Hz studio quality) on the list, if supported by your hardware> Ok all open windows to come out of it and close Cotrol Panel. I have just done it as a sudden light bulb went on in my mind and it worked straight away. As a remark, I have to enphasise that uninstalling and then reinstalling the hardware it does not always work if the reference is showing the device is working properly with no conflicts in the "resources".

My sound went off again and I tried this now, searched for Nahimic in the Microsoft Store, it downloaded automatically (although it was already installed so just an update basically) and I restarted my PC and the sound is back again.

For your sound just delete the audio input from your computer and install it back it worked for me but you should probably watch a tutorial on how to reinstall them back though

I was sceptical because of the like/dislike ratio, but this actually fixed all my problems with my games. I had no audio, no microphone functioning in all my games. Sound in google chrome worked tho. Now they all work. Thank you for that.

if u have extern audio card probably wont work at all.im using emu 0404.i cant believe how they can screw up this and stil didnt fix it.im rolling back to 1809 is stable.

for me i disabled realtek digital output in sound and it came on

You aren't going to believe this, but when you put the sound "box" up in your video, tho't it was on my PC, clicked the OK and gasp, my stereo speakers magically are now working, again! Omfg thank you! A simple disable and reenable of my headphones through the control panel worked, everything was looking fine driver wise and my pc said there where no issues with the devices so I was getting worried and other videos did not cover this basic fix

Hmmm, I tried disabaling and re enabling the the audio device I use but when I tried to play the test audio, I still got no response. An Ideas?

When I go to app volume and device preferences, where it says "system sounds", my input and output settings are on default. That normally wouldn't be an issue, but no matter what I do, the "default sound" for my computer is nonexistent. Once again, shouldn't be a problem, right? Wrong! To combat the weird no default sound thing, I just manually select my headphones and microphone. For some reason, in my app volume, the System sounds app thing doesn't have options, just default. I've tried everything! I just don't know what to do! Please help.

Thanks, Had an update today, Feb 13 2021. Despite having my default audio set to my headphones, everything was coming out of the monitor. Bouncing around default devices from the control panel audio settings helped me fix it. I don't know why they buried these audio settings in Windows 10.

Real simple, I was able to watch full sound here, and had already done the disable/enable toggle and it did not work and before watching this video, I saw that an update came in this morning via W update. I am rolling back update to previous date when no sound issues existed...I am 100% positive this will correct issue, so confident that I am not waiting before posting this, if I do not update this, it is safe to assume this method worked/undoing windows update.
