It’s impossible on a pond around 2500g to get a good circulation and flow rate round the pond when only turning over every couple of hours. Especially if you have a couple of returns. Surely the fish need a good flow to avoid putting on weight and also to help keep bottom drains and pipe work clear of crud. Must be only turning over 6-7000 litres an hour. Will be dribbling out split between two returns…

“Impossible” what is your basis for making this statement? How many ponds have you run over how many years and at what feeding / stocking levels?

@@KoiWholesale how do you get good flow on a smaller pond with such low turnover rates then? 2500g pond. Turnover of 2 hours is 1250g per hour. Split over two returns is 625g per hour through each. Hardly going to give you great water movement
Didn’t catch the brand of filter gel Ricky mentioned. Can anyone tell me which one he mentioned please?

It would likely be EA filter gel, Bactoplus gel or Bactoplus PSB Bacteria.
Shame the video didn`t carry on a bit longer . I have a similar sized pond , but have the pump running at around 14k per hour . I just find it clears the bottom better . Is the slower rate just to get more contact time on the media ? Mines around 3 years old in its current form . Nitrite/Ammonia very low ( Running drum and bio chamber with 150 litres of k1 , unheated ) .

If it’s running well and working then great. I think you can catch the full video this in our previous lives. Episode 001.
REDUCE the air if you have air in your bio and you should see a VAST improvement and within a few days or up to a week (too much air and the wrong type of bacteria)
Joe, did you manage to get rid of the background nitrite levels?

I'll ask Joe for an update.
Ricky How many 50-60cm Nisai or Sansai koi can we stock in a 44,000 litre customer pond feeding on saki hikari 6 times a day running on old school gravity filtration?

It all depends on the feeding level and your biological filtration capacity.
