If you flash first the factory image of oreo, I think yes. but you might also need to factory reset the device.

it ended up saying it cannot continue as my system is corrupted

Well you should only flash the 4core, but you might need to factory reset the phone as well in some cases.

Sadly it's pretty much hit or miss here, I'd say if you are a beginner take it to a store or a friend who knows those things better to assist you, I wouldn't recommend doing it alone

If your bootloop caused by the same issue, no format will help here sadly

A Pixel doing this? well I'm almost fully sure it's a different problem. what did you do before this happened? maybe an interrupted update or some flashing? I would first try to go to the recovery and clear the cache (ONLY THE CACHE!!) and see if that helps, sadly if not the next step is try to wipe it. if that won't help, you will probably need to try to sideload the original stock firmware But I don't believe it's a hardware issue in your case

@@callalilywu seriously? it just reboots without a stop even in recovery?? In that case you might need to check where you bought it and use warranty, doesn't sound like something simple now sadly

Check what I replied to that video: Wow, that seems bad... Try maybe to enter the bootloader, and connect the phone to the PC. Will the PC recognize it? if so, you might wanna try to flash the original stock image from Google, this will probably erase all your data but might save your phone.

Only 'wipe data/factory reset' helped me for my nexus 6p

That's good, means you don't have this issue and just had some software bug

sadly this did not work for me, i had tried in the past probably 3 months or so ago too root and got bricked(Stuck only on google logo) and got out by flashing factory images then my phone decided to bootloop while in school this morning and i thought it was wierd so i waited till i got home and flashed factory images but with no luck nothing happened, decided to do this yet still did not work. :( i guess i will see a phone repair shop tomorrow after school and see what they can do about it :) (in case your phone is BRICKED from root then download angler for your phone and do it that way good luck)

Sad to hear. I guess what they can do in repair shops is to switch the motherboard which will probably take time to order the part and will cost much. note that Nexus phones just got their final security updates so maybe it's worth to check newer phones.

If your bootloader unlocked, you shouldn't lose any data. but if you have a bootloop, losing data is far from worst.

It is possible to get the bootloader unlocked in some cases by heating it up. I did that for mine with a hairdryer and I was able to unlock it and pull all my files off but unfortunately the fix still doesn't work for me. Just have a hairdryer running on it for like 15 minutes and try turning it on. If it doesn't work you might need to let it cool a bit. The idea is that when it gets hot, the big cores shut off because of thermal throttling and this gives just enough time to get everything in order.

Heard that a few times but if it is locked you need to act very quick and know what you are doing. In short you will need to boot up, go to settings to the about and tap multiple times on the build number to unlock developer options than go to the developer options,enable oem unlock (you must have internet for that) and after that you need to do the unlocking which BTW erases everything from the device...

Does this method erase everything?

Erasing happens when you unlock the bootloader or flash stock firmware, otherwise it shouldn't erase everything.

Sadly there is no easy way out. you will need to unlock it and for that you first need to enable OEM unlock from your ROM which means you need to get it to work for at least a few minutes. From what I heard (DO IT ONLY ON YOUR OWN RISK) people could make it turn on after freezing the phone or heating the area between the camera and the fingerprint reader where the processor is. Sadly I don't have enough info on those methods

Agreed. I've seen vids where people are blow drying to apply heat to the phone to disable 4 of the Cores. And it actually reboots. Not for good but enough time to get into developer settings.
